About us
Who we are
Project 17 works to reduce homelessness and severe poverty among people excluded from mainstream welfare by their immigration status.
Ultimately, we want to see laws and policies that do not perpetuate poverty and inequality. Until then, our specialist focus is around working with families experiencing exceptional poverty to improve their access to housing and financial support from social services under a law called section 17 Children Act 1989.
To acheive this, we provide direct advice and advocacy; we build capacity in other organisations to support people with no recourse to public funds; and we call for systemic change around NRPF, immigration policy, and social services support.
Our culture and values

Solidarity: Centring the expertise of people who have experienced NRPF and its impacts.
Empathy: Building trust through supportive, non-judgemental relationships.
