Who we are
Repowering London specialises in co-creating community-owned renewable energy systems with local people, businesses and authorities. Our vision is a clean and fair energy future that empowers and benefits local communities.
Repowering’s goal is to ensure urban and disadvantaged communities can benefit from and participate in a clean and smart energy system, and are not left behind by the wider changes that are happening as part of the transition to a low-carbon society. We create local community energy co-operatives, we provide energy advice and support to residents, and we explore innovative ways to generate and use energy more smartly.
Our first project, in 2011, was the creation of the Brixton Energy Solar co-ops, who installed the first inner-city community-owned solar panels on social housing in the UK. Since then, we have co-created in total seven solar energy co-ops in different parts of the city.
