About us
Who we are
The Sociological Review Foundation is a registered charity whose purpose is to advance the education of the public on the subject of sociology and related disciplines. The Foundation was established in 2015 and is funded by the proceeds from sales and subscriptions of The Sociological Review journal, one of the world’s foremost peer-reviewed general sociology journals.
Our charitable activities focus on public sociology and support for early career researchers. Our mission includes promoting sociological thinking to audiences beyond academia; raising wider awareness of key debates that shape contemporary societies; and directing and supporting projects that intervene in emerging issues.
This mission is carried out in a number of ways, including our open-access digital Magazine; our podcasts; the Connected Sociologies Curriculum Project; free events such as The Sociological Review Annual Lecture and The Sociological Review Seminar Series; free residential writing retreats; and The Sociological Review Fellowship.
