Who we are

SUNSHINE Charity is a small but powerful grassroots charity on a big mission: to reduce loneliness and help people feel truly seen, valued and connected. Powered 100% by passionate volunteers, we design joyful community projects, awareness campaigns, partnerships and support services that bring people together and foster connections and spread joy and community spirit, helping to break the chains of loneliness and social isolation.

Our yellow heart with a fingerprint at its centre reminds us that behind every story is an individual who matters – and that no one should feel alone.

THE SUNSHINE MISSION

To reduce loneliness and increase genuine human connection by:

1. Creating welcoming community projects and spaces where people can meet, share and belong.
2. Raising awareness and challenging stigma around loneliness through storytelling and campaigns.
3. Building partnerships that join up local support so no one falls through the gaps.
4. Offering light-touch support services that connect people with each other and with local opportunities.

OUR VALUES

1. Heart-led professionalism
We care deeply and show it in how we act, listen and follow through. We combine warmth with high standards so people feel both safe and cherished.

Everyone is unique – like a fingerprint – and every story is worthy of respect. We create spaces where people of all backgrounds, identities and experiences feel they can come as they are and be accepted.

Loneliness is heavy; our response is light, hopeful and joyful. We intentionally create moments of fun, laughter and shared experience that lift spirits and build connection.

We believe the best ideas come from within communities. We listen, co-create and empower local people to lead, rather than “doing to” them.

We do what we say we’ll do, protect people’s dignity, and are honest about our limits. We hold clear boundaries and strong safeguarding so that everyone is safe.

We know we’re part of a bigger movement tackling loneliness. We work alongside others, share learning and celebrate partners’ successes as well as our own.
