Who we are
Talawa is the UK’s outstanding BlackBritish Theatre Company. Our purpose is to champion Black Excellence in theatre; to nurture talent in emerging andestablished artists of African or Caribbean heritage and to tell inspirational and passionate stories,reflecting Black experiences through art.
For 35 years Talawa has championed Black creative talent on British stages and has been breaking down barriers, providing opportunities for Black artists throughout the UK.
We are proud to be the UK’s outstanding Black British theatre company.
Through our work, we actively listen to, develop and support Black people at all stages of their creative careers, equipping our artists with the skills and tools necessary to navigate an often prejudiced world. In this digital age, Talawa's work reaches international audiences as well as the British audience.
