Who we are
The 4Front Project is a member-led youth organisation that envisions an equitable world in which young people experience justice, love and peace so they have the freedom to thrive and fulfil their dreams. 4Front exists to serve young people who have experienced trauma, violence and racial injustice, by fighting for their rights, supporting them to heal, and empowering them to build communities where they are nurtured, protected and respected. 4Front was established in 2012 to provide a platform for young people who have been impacted by violence to create change; in their own lives, communities and society. Since then, 4Front has pioneered a unique approach that empowers the young people most directly harmed by trauma, violence and racial injustice to be at the forefront of a grassroots movement for change.
4Front has developed a thorough understanding of the trauma, harm and pain that the criminal legal, education and social care systems inflict on young people, their families and whole communities - cementing the belief that there cannot be true peace whilst this type of systemic harm is left unaddressed. As a result, 4Front centres healing and transformative justice whilst directly challenging the UK’s addiction to criminalisation, policing and prisons. In this way, 4Front members are supported to create change in their own lives, whilst their voices are uplifted to create change in the system. 4Front works to build youth power by focusing on youth leadership; identity; personal stories; community stories; the history of resistance, movements and movement-building; community healing, health and wellbeing and transformative justice.
4Front is based in Jahiem's Justice Centre, a chemist reclaimed by the 4Front community and transformed into a powerful youth space in the heart of Grahame Park Estate. Named after 17-year-old Jahiem Legister-Hall - a 4Front member who was tragically killed in 2019 - the centre is a memorial and legacy project, built to address the most urgent needs in the community with transformative justice, healing and holistic support.
