Who we are
Helping, Including, Valuing, Empowering... the learning disabled community.
Our vision is to help people with learning disabilities and/or autism live as independently as they choose, to empower individuals to make choices and have control over their own lives, to become full and active members of the community in which they live, and to ensure their rights are defended and their voices heard.
We are a local charity working with adults and young people with learning disabilities, their families and carers in Bristol, South Gloucestershire, and surrounding areas. We run a drop-in centre in Kingswood, where we provide a range of social, leisure, music, arts and craft activities. We hold life skills training events and run various advocacy services, including self-advocacy workshops. We campaign on local and national issues that impact the learning disability community. We have also assisted local authorities and Healthwatch to consult with the local learning disability community about the quality and accessibility of health and social care services.
