The Movement Centre is a UK registered charity. We help to address movement control issues, which many children with a brain injury or disability face. We do this through our unique therapy, Targeted Training. The children who visit The Movement Centre have cerebral palsy, global developmental delay or other problems of movement control. A course of therapy can help children to gain essential functional skills, which can make them far more independent. This can completely change their lives.
Targeted Training was developed 20 years ago by The Movement Centre. It was created by drawing on specialist physiotherapy and bioengineering. We are based in Oswestry, Shropshire, but we work with children from across the UK. Since we were founded in 1996 we have supported more than 500 children and helped them gain independence and a better quality of life through increased movement control, but there is still so much to be done. Currently as many as 2,500 children are born every year, in the UK alone, who could benefit from Targeted Training. We want to reach as many children as possible and make a lifelong difference.
Our vision is that all children who have a disability affecting their movement control are able to reach their full potential.
Our mission is to maximise the potential of children’s movement control through Targeted Training.
Our six main values determine how we act, as individuals and as an organisation. They form the basis of The Movement Centre’s culture and they are at the core of everything we do.
