Who we are

Tommy's exists to save babies' lives. We are the largest charity funding research into the causes of miscarriage, stillbirth and pre-term birth.

Tommy’s was founded in 1992 by two obstetricians at St Thomas’ Hospital, frustrated that they couldn’t answer that simple question asked by too many parents: ‘Why did my baby die?’

We fund five Tommy’s Centres around the UK, where some of the world’s leading scientists and clinicians in this field are making breakthroughs that are changing outcomes for families everywhere.

Our mission is to halve the number of babies that die in pregnancy or birth by 2030, and to reduce the number of babies born prematurely.
