About us
Who we are
Wild in the City is a Black-led national nature organisation supporting well-being through relationship with nature, established in 2013 and incorporated as a Community Interest Company in 2016.
We create a welcoming community for people of colour to deepen their relationship with nature, to learn about and to care for the natural world; addressing the widely acknowledged lack of representation and lower levels of involvement of people of colour in nature based activity. Working from natural settings, our team of Nature Guides lead programmes in natural history, hiking, woodland living skills, conservation and ecotherapy.
Our in-depth ethnographic research and insightful socio-political analysis on people of colour’s relationship with nature has been groundbreaking. Combining anthropological and psychotherapeutic perspectives on the dynamics of race in the environmental field, this thought leadership informs our consultancy, supporting environmental NGO’s, funders and government bodies on issues of access, engagement and diversification in the environmental field.
