Wirral Mencap is a small local charity that supports people with a learning disability and their families. The organisation is independent of the national charity both financially and in its management; It is governed by local people for the benefit of local people.
Wirral Mencap’s strategic objectives for this period are:
1. Improving the health and wellbeing of people with a learning disability living in Wirral
2. Supporting people with a learning disability to reach their full potential
3. Improving the quality of life of family carers in Wirral
4. Increasing resilience and knowledge amongst individuals and families to prevent future crises
The charity provides a range of services including social clubs, personal development programmes, information and advice, supported volunteering opportunities, befriending and more.
The team consists of 12 members of staff (4 full time, 8 part time) and over 60 volunteers.
Wirral Mencap's projects and services currently support approximately 350 local families. We are a small organisation that has a big impact!
