About Yellow Door

Yellow Door (formerly Southampton Rape Crisis) is a registered charity working to support individuals and communities across South West Hampshire, covering Southampton, Eastleigh, Test Valley (South) the New Forest and the Isle of Wight.

We offer a range of services dedicated to supporting those who have experienced abuse, as well as delivering award winning preventative workshops and outreach across the region.

About Us:

Over 30 years ago, in 1985, a small number of women from the Southampton’s Women’s Group gathered together to discuss issues around the lack of support available for women within the city who had experienced rape. Southampton Rape Crisis was established. The organisation began in a small, dank room at the Women’s Centre with just a couple of phones and a few volunteers to form a helpline.

​Today, we are known as Yellow Door. Over this time our services have transformed to meet the needs of those who come to us for support. We are now able to support not only women but also men, young people, children and families, as well as engaging in discussions regarding healthy relationships with the wider community.

Our Mission:

We believe that everyone has the right never to be forced or manipulated into any kind of sexual activity.

• ​Work together towards preventing sexual and domestic abuse and exploitation through education, awareness and support.
• Provide appropriate help to support the health and wellbeing of those affected by sexual and domestic abuse.
