About the role
With an income of over 31 million pounds last year, the work of our Finance Team is vital in supporting the wider organisation and enabling us to put our funds to the best possible use.
Reporting to the Head of Finance, and with management responsibly for a team of five, you will ensure all financial information, systems and controls are of the highest integrity and that we remain compliant with all finance related legislation and best practice. You will oversee the processing of income and expenditure, seeking efficiencies and ensuring our processes support compliance with our policies. You will collaborate and build relationships with teams across the organisation, advising both finance and non-finance staff on taxation and other technical issues, and developing finance skills and confidence across the organisation.
You will take primary responsibility for producing our annual accounts and other statutory returns. You will lead relationships with a range of external stakeholders, including auditors, tax advisers and our bankers.

About the Role
You will be providing direct support and assistance to the Senior Legal Counsel and Legal Counsel in providing advice and appropriate action on day to day legal, commercial and compliance issues. We currently have an opportunity for a Nature Recovery Manager within our national Environment & Climate Action Team within the Strategy and Impact Directorate. The S&I directorate analyses current and emerging policy and sets the Trust’s strategy and standards for regional delivery across all the Trust’s activities. The Environment and Climate action team is responsible for delivering the Trust’s strategy and policy on all environment and climate related sustainability issues, including environmental compliance as a minimum, improvement of our protected sites and achieving a net gain in biodiversity across our canal network.
Reporting to the Head of Environment and Climate action, the Nature Recovery Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring the Trusts position and progress on nature recovery. The role includes delivering a long-term action plan to move more of our protected sites to favourable condition and collaborating with other teams across the Trust to develop, fund and deliver projects that increase biodiversity and the abundance of protected species across the network.
Knowledge, Skills/Qualifications & Experience
Key Accountabilities:
- Develop, implement and maintain the Trust’s nature recovery strategy
- Develop and own a national action plan to improve the condition of the Trust’s protected sites to meet the requirements set out in the Environmental Improvement Plan 2023.
- Develop, deliver, and report on a programme of projects and activities enabling the Trust to demonstrate its biodiversity commitments as a 28G authority and that it is delivering an overall net gain in biodiversity across the network. This includes working closely with teams delivering mandatory Biodiversity Net Gain.
- Collaborate with the Fundraising, Marketing, Campaigns and Enterprise functions to deliver high quality, fundable nature recovery projects.
- Ownership of Trust standards relating to protected sites and biodiversity; working with internal technical experts and the Trust’s legal team to ensure that all Trust standards relating to protected sites and biodiversity meet regulatory requirements.
- Working with the Trust’s operational and delivery teams to ensure that standards are delivered and align with business processes through a process of assurance checking.
- Manage external technical input where requires (e.g. from consultants)
- Assist in the investigation of environmental incidents, near misses and ensure the production and dissemination of key learnings
- Producing progress reports (quarterly/ annually/ as necessary) for Defra and the wider public as well as input into our annual accounts and ESG reports
- Producing case studies and other examples of best practice for internal and external audiences
- Developing and delivering biodiversity and nature recovery training
- Displaying the Trust values and behaviours at all times.
- Ensuring that diversity and inclusion are integrated into all aspects of Trust life and promoting inclusion by challenging behaviour, practices, actions, or decisions that are counter to the objectives of the Trust’s policies and values.
Knowledge, Experience & Skills:
- Full Member CIEEM (MCIEEM) qualification or equivalent
- Broad understanding of key policy drivers for improving biodiversity in UK organisations, e.g Environmental Improvement Plan 2023, TNFD etc.
- Demonstrable experience of developing and implementing opportunities to improve nature within an organisation with multiple objectives and environmental aspects.
- Practical understanding of the UK regulatory frameworks for biodiversity, habitats, and protected species
- Working knowledge of the key metrics tools for Biodiversity Net Gain (Defra Metric 4.0, UK Habitats and MoRPH) and how these can be used to demonstrate improvements in biodiversity.
- Experience with working with protected sites and the new Natural England framework for categorising and managing pressures, mechanism and actions
- Experience with working with climate change datasets (e.g. UKCP18) to develop adaptation plans for biodiversity under future climate scenarios/
- Authoring company standards and guidance within an Environmental Management System
- Project/ programme management skills

Location:
The role will be home-based with an expectation to attend main regional hubs either at Milton Keynes, Birmingham or Little Venice (Paddington) for collaborative working. This is a national role, requiring collaboration with teams in all six of the Trust’s regions. About Unlocked
Unlocked Graduates exists to break cycles of reoffending, with particular focus on breaking the link between disadvantage and reoffending. Currently prison is not a place which successfully does this: the average prisoner has 16 previous convictions and 48 percent of prisoners reoffend within a year of release. This is a phenomenally interesting role as it offers the opportunity to radically reimagine what incredible training can look like for a singularly powerful role: the prison officer is the only professional who reaches every single prisoner including the most vulnerable and challenging. For this reason, at the heart of Unlocked is a highly effective training provision developing the leaders our prison service needs. It is this area that you will be responsible for.

We’re looking for a Head of Curriculum with a deep passion for best practice pedagogy, curriculum and assessment to help us continue to develop our participants into transformative prison officers and extraordinary future leaders. You will use your deep understanding of pedagogical theory and an uncompromising enthusiasm for how people learn to oversee an entire two-year programme of study, from initial residential training all the way through to ongoing professional development.
Our team has worked hard to craft an outstanding training programme for our participants. Our practice-based curriculum and pedagogy is built on the work of Doug Lemov, and the knowledge aspects of the curriculum are embedded in theories of explicit teaching rather than discovery learning for novice practitioners, as per the work of E.D. This is a newly created contract role till December 2025 role. The salary being offered is £53,507 per annum with amazing benefits and investment for your personal development by the organisation.
You will be reporting to the Head of Management Accounts and will be office based twice a week.
Some of your main duties are:
- Developing budgets for concept notes and proposals.
- Ensuring financial requirements for grants are managed properly by all involved in approved grants.
- Allocating expenditure to grants according to the agreed budget.
- Preparing financial reports for donors according to donor requirements.
- Lead or support donor audits against the grants.
- Dealing with donor queries.
- Maintaining and improving partnership management guidelines from the financial aspect.
- Ensure the financial clauses in the standard partnership agreement are aligned with partnership guidelines.
- Ensure the financial clauses in any partnership agreement are adapted according to the situation.

The Head of Philanthropy will play a pivotal role in fostering strong connections between the school and our alumni and parent community. We are entering the early stages of a new major philanthropic campaign, which will significantly scale the ambition for the school’s fundraising and engagement activity. As a team we have a major role to play in shaping the future of the school’s bursary ambitions. Our success will widen access and support the futures and aspirations of disadvantaged young people within our local community, and beyond. This position involves strategic planning, relationship-building, and effective communication to help deliver the school’s philanthropic and fundraising strategic objectives. This is a senior fundraising role, reporting into the Director of Development. You will be required to manage and develop a portfolio of high-level funders (both from the UK and international), securing philanthropic donations, whilst also stewarding our donors effectively, creating innovative and compelling ways to demonstrate the impact of their philanthropic support.
Person Specification
The ideal candidate will need to:
- Be able to demonstrate a track record of securing, administering, and stewarding significant gifts from donors, or significant experience in leading income generation activity through regular giving programmes within the charitable sector.
- Work with the Head, Bursar, Director of Development, Foundation Trustees, and other senior colleagues and volunteers to research, plan and undertake donor cultivation and solicitation meetings.
- Maintain positive working relationships with all constituents in the King’s community, including alumni, parents, and pupils to encourage lifelong engagement through participation, advocacy, and support.
- Be a great problem solver with the ability to work laterally to identify opportunities and provide solutions to fundraising challenges.
- Work with the Director of Development on developing a methodical fundraising programme, ranging from regular contributions, through to major gifts and legacies. Implementing the development fundraising strategy to support the school’s vision and bursary ambitions.
- Be experienced in using donor and potential donor relationship management systems, for example Raiser’s Edge or ToucanTech.
