At Make Votes Matter (MVM), our mission is to achieve real democracy via the necessary step of equal votes.

We lead the movement to introduce Proportional Representation (PR) to the House of Commons. We combine the power of people taking action from the grassroots up, with coordinated activity by a cross-party Alliance of politicians, public figures, parties and organisations to win PR in years, rather than decades.

About the role

As CEO, you'll support us through a new stage in our development. We're operating in a fluid political environment and so our new leader needs to be confident to work in a political setting while also having the skills and experience to run an organisation like ours.

You'll take ultimate responsibility for our campaign to achieve Proportional Representation in the House of Commons. You will:

• as leader of the campaign, be primarily responsible for building the popular and political momentum needed to secure this seismic reform;
• as leader of the organisation, be primarily responsible for defining and executing MVM’s strategy, while ensuring its good financial health and legal and regulatory compliance; and
• as leader to our staff and volunteer team, be primarily responsible for providing clarity of direction while ensuring the organisation maintains a collaborative, empowering and inspiring culture.

You will:

• lead the UK campaign for Proportional Representation;
• ensure MVM has a clear external brand, with consistent messages, effective and emotive arguments, and impactful use of evidence;
• be a spokesperson for the organisation on a variety of public platforms including national media and at key MVM events;
• create and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders;
• lead on development of MVM's post-election strategic plan;
• line manage and delegate responsibilities to staff, as appropriate;
• take ultimate responsibility for the good governance of MVM, including but not limited to the organisation’s financial health, legal compliance, and good standing with regulatory bodies;
• with support of relevant MVM staff, to ensure that the Board is supported in performing its governance role;
• support and comply with MVM’s policies active within the organisation pertinent to the role; and
• undertake other related duties as required to assist MVM in meeting its objectives.

About you

• you have a track-record as a successful leader in an organisation of comparable size, or equivalent managerial or director experience;
• you have political or campaigning experience, an understanding of the UK’s democracy sector and an ability to work in a non-partisan, cross-party way;

• you have prior experience of good governance practices, financial planning and managing an operation to tight budgets;

• you have excellent communication and influencing skills and the ability to convey a message with impact and inspire trust; being comfortable communicating with senior stakeholders, volunteers, staff and funders;

About us

Crisis is the national charity for homeless people. We know that homelessness is not inevitable. We know that together we can end it.

Our Finance Team is expanding and we have an exciting opportunity available for a Management Accountant! You will be part of our finance team and will be responsible for producing monthly management accounts, assisting annual budgeting and restricted funding income. This is to provide support in decision making across relevant areas of the organisation and to continuously improve the efficiency and quality of what we do to support other functions in driving efficiencies and reducing costs.

About the role

As management accountant, you will –

• Produce accurate monthly management accounts for the organisation
• Assist forecasts and budgets in liaison with the Finance Business Partners and budget managers providing support and advice for new projects/contracts when required. Applicants will need a keen eye for detail!
• Manage and plan restricted funding ensuring funds are spent in accordance with supporter requirements.
• Assist in year-end statutory audit process

About you

To be successful in this role you will have ACCA/ CIMA or equivalent CCAB recognised accounting qualification, or working towards such a qualification, or can demonstrate being qualified by experience. The ideal candidate for this role will

• Be a self-starter with an excellent communication and interpersonal skills to provide industry-leading customer service to all internal and external customers.
• Have strong interpersonal skills are required to liaise confidently with other parts of the Business

You will be curious about learning and education work, and non-main-stage activity, including digital and immersive projects, and will be thinking collaboratively and pro-actively about their relationship to performances on the concert stage.

You will play a key leadership role in the ongoing transformation of the organisation: ensuring the highest artistic standards based on the unique Philharmonia sound, whilst championing and developing an artistic strategy built around innovation.

As a member of the Exec Team, you will report to the Chief Executive. You will work in close partnership with the Concerts Director and team, and also have close working relationships with other members of the Exec Team, President, Vice President and the Philharmonia Orchestra Artistic Committee.

You will be a collaborative and inclusive leader who acts with integrity, and who can manage complex systems and personalities in line with Philharmonia’s vision, mission, and strategic aims.

Key information

Key responsibilities

Programming & artistic relationships

• Devise and implement the artistic strategy and programme of the Philharmonia Orchestra in close consultation with the Chief Executive, Principal Conductor and Exec Team colleagues

• Act as primary liaison to the Principal Conductor and other titled artists, discussing and agreeing programmes and projects

• Engage guest conductors and soloists for all Philharmonia own-promoted performances and engagements, including fee negotiations

• Identify and lead opportunities for commissioning and co-commissioning of new works, negotiating commission fees and contracts. Liaison with publishers

• Negotiate co-promotion deals with external partners such as Serious or Southbank Centre

• Liaise with conductors and touring partners to develop programmes for foreign touring, while

  considering market and budget limitations

• Initiate and develop non-standard orchestral projects, such as film with live orchestra, cross-artform or cross-genre collaborations, and performances at non-standard venues

• Develop suitable programmes for Philharmonia Residency venues, taking both box office and logistical considerations into account

• Handle artist and conductor cancellations and identifying suitable replacements. Liaising internally with other departments over all cancellations

• Develop repertoire ideas and ensure timely registration on clash-diary, with support from Concerts Manager

• Lead on chamber music programming, including liaison with players over proposals

• Research and identify future featured artists, composers and guest conductors proactively

Internal & external communications

• Represent the artistic programming function to senior staff, promoters, agents, donors, Board members and volunteers

• Collaborate with the Learning and Engagement department to integrate the performance programme with educational projects in the planning stage, including Artist in Residence programme

• Collaborate with the Development Department on programmed-led fundraising activities

• Be in regular contact with Marketing colleagues as artistic plans consolidate and confirm. Advise on narrative and proof-read key documents

• Act as artistic liaison with external partners as required

Budgeting, rehearsal & instrumentation planning

• Work with the Concerts Director and Managers to create project and season activity budgets, accurately forecasting expenditure and advising on box office targets

• Oversee the planning of rehearsals by Concerts Managers, seeking advice from members of the orchestra as necessary

• Agree special instruments, and relevant additional fees

Principal liaison with Southbank Centre

• Lead on the day-to-day relationship with Southbank Centre, both in terms of strategy and date requests as principal point of contact

• Keep SBC colleagues updated on future artistic plans, specifically identifying future projects which may be of interest to Southbank Centre to collaborate on, on a co-promotion or engagement basis

Orchestra liaison

• Lead the Artistic Committee discussions re future plans, and ideas around conductors and soloists • Work with the Concerts Assistants and Data & Insight Manager to issue periodic conductor and soloist survey, using results to inform future programming
• Be in regular contact with key orchestral personnel over suitability of repertoire if rehearsal time is  severely limited

Recordings & digital

• Lead on Philharmonia Records, developing and overseeing the recordings strategy
• Identify, and plan potential own-label recording projects
• Listen to recordings to assess suitability for release, and discussing in-house recordings with Artistic Committee
• Work with Immersive Producer on programmatic aspects of digital projects • Identify projects which could be digital first from the outset

Other

• Work with the CEO and Exec team colleagues on developing future business plan and strategies built around the Orchestra’s new mission, vision and values

• As a member of the Exec team represent the Orchestra in key operational and strategic relationships, as required

• Attend performances at Southbank Centre and at venues out of London and overseas, as required, in order to monitor artistic performance and quality

Required skills & experience

• Excellent track record of working in artistic planning or artist management (min 7-10 years)

• First-class knowledge of orchestral repertoire and artists, as well as the work of the Philharmonia

  Orchestra

• Demonstrable creative programming experience at an international level

• First-rate budgeting and financial management skills

• Demonstrable entrepreneurial mindset with a successful history of creating new projects

• Current experience of development of UK and international markets for orchestras

• First-class communications, influencing, and negotiation skills – and the ability to make the case

  effectively and enthusiastically

• A collaborative team player able to develop excellent working relationships across the organisation

• Flexible and positive attitude, as well as the ability to think laterally and creatively to overcome

  obstacles

• High level of professionalism, self-motivation and organisation, and an ability to manage complex

  issues effectively

• Ability to regularly work out of hours and travel, as required

• Diplomatic and capable of being an excellent ambassador for the Philharmonia

The Specialist Housing Advocate will work within a dynamic, fast paced team to provide intervention, advocacy and support that empowers women and ensures that the voice of survivors informs every stage of their journey towards improved safety. This is a new and exciting service, and we are looking for someone passionate about ensuring that all survivors of domestic abuse are able to access safe and appropriate accommodation which meets their needs.

To be successful as the Senior Specialist Housing Advocate you will need the below experience and skills: 

You will bring solid experience of supporting women who have experienced domestic abuse in all its forms; coming from a sector with transferrable skills or possess a feminist/VAWG higher level qualification. 

You will have an excellent understanding of domestic abuse and its effects on survivors and their children, and of best practice within the domestic abuse and housing sectors. You will be skilled in risk management and safety planning, remaining calm in a crisis and in handling sensitive information on a daily basis. The post holder will hold a caseload of survivors and will also be required to support Advance’s duty team on a rota basis which will involve completing intake assessments and providing crisis intervention support.

We are looking for a new team member to provide full administrative and programme support to the Employment & Careers team. The role will involve supporting the team in the day to day running of the service including the preparation of contract documentation (such as registration forms, as well as specified supporting evidence: ID proofs, Proofs of Address etc.) for submission to funding partners, uploading data spreadsheets and CMS systems, and supporting the team with promotion, outreach and engagement of our services. We currently have an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled Area Branch Development Manager to join our field operations team. You will join us working 35 hours per week (including some evening and weekends) on a 12 month fixed-term contract basis and in return you will receive a competitive salary of up to £41,363 per annum, plus car allowance and excellent benefits.

The role will be home-based and the successful candidate must be based in (or willing to relocate to) Cornwall or West Devon, as travel is necessary for the execution of the post holder’s duties throughout this region.

Since 1927, Cats Protection has helped thousands of cats each year, across the UK. As a community of volunteers, employees, supporters and partners, we’ve improved the lives of millions of cats and transformed the way millions of people see and care for cats.

Our branch network is made up of groups of volunteers, led by a Branch Team Leader and overseen by a branch committee. Usually volunteering from their own homes, our branch volunteers foster cats until they are ready to re-home, raise funds to directly help the cats in their care, spread vital cat welfare messages across to members of the public, carry out trap-neuter-return activity, and much more!

Responsibilities of our Area Branch Development Manager:

As an Area Branch Development Manager you will be accountable for the development, growth and local governance of branches within a designated area. Providing a solution-driven approach with the aim of helping more cats through the effective engagement of local volunteers. You will develop and deliver an area plan that captures the importance of volunteer engagement, recruitment, support, enabling and succession planning to ultimately achieve branch growth and sustainability. You will work collaboratively with other CP regional teams where appropriate, identifying where there are opportunities to achieve more by working together.

What we’re looking for in our Area Branch Development Manager:

• Proven management experience including drafting business and operational plans
• Proven experience of leading and managing volunteers
• Experience of planning and implementing new processes and systems across a multi-site organisation
• Proficient IT skills, including all aspects of Microsoft Office relevant packages and knowledge of database management
• Personal and professional manner and credibility that generate trust and confidence in others
• Knowledge of the animal welfare sector
• Hold current full clean driving licence

As a Band 5, you may already have experience of working in mental health services or have a passion to work in mental health together with a wealth of relevant skills that come from other professions such as teaching, probation or youth work.

We are looking for a full time Peer Engagement Practitioner.

This is an innovative new service, integrating the expertise, skills and knowledge of the network in Barnet with NHS Mental Health services. The purpose of the role is to provide peer led psycho-social support to clients, working within specialist Mental Health teams and the VCS delivery partners. This role will also serve to enhance the work of the MH teams, and other practitioners within the service, to ensure it remains clients focused, recovery informed, and embedded with experience led practice.

The role will carry an active caseload, working with clients to determine their recovery needs, identifying resources available within the community, providing expert advice and support, facilitating recovery focused peer support groups, and contributing to the development of new community resources.
