Aquarius is a charity that helps people and communities overcome the harm caused by alcohol, drugs and gambling. We are part of ‘One Recovery Buckinghamshire’ (ORB), a partnership between Inclusion (MPFT NHS Trust), Aquarius, and Build on Belief providing support for alcohol and drug issues across Buckinghamshire.
We are looking for three Support Workers to join our team. We have two positions available in Aylesbury and one position in High Wycombe. Please state on the supporting statement which position (or both) you are applying for.

Your challenge? To provide advice, support, advocacy and key work for recovery plans and undertake elements of assessment and case management as directed. And, all the while, we’ll expect you to operate in a way that recognises and values diversity and understands the functional model of substance misuse, the Recovery Agenda and the problems caused by alcohol and drug misuse.

Preferably with a NVQ 2/3 in Social Care, or willing to attain this, you are used to working to policy and procedural requirements that include child protection, vulnerable adults, confidentiality and health & safety. 

We’ll also be looking for good written and verbal communication skills and the ability to maintain accurate records and fulfil data requirements. A flexible approach is important too, as is a commitment to taking a client centred approach to providing services and working in a way that recognises and values diversity.

This is a permanent full-time role requiring the post holder to work 37 hours per week.

THE ROLE 
The Croft Woodlands Project is a partnership initiative between Woodland Trust Scotland, Point & Sandwick Trust, Scottish Forestry, Scottish Crofting Federation, the Woodland Croft Partnership, Shetland Amenity Trust, Orkney Woodlands Project and Communities Housing Trust. The aim is to engage crofters in woodland creation and management on their holdings to deliver multiple benefits in terms of biodiversity, agricultural diversification, landscape and environment. This role receives generous support from Point & Sandwick Trust.

The Project Adviser will be responsible for the day-to-day delivery of the Croft Woodland Project in Lewis and Harris, and will engage with crofters, common grazing committees and other land managers to take forward woodland schemes. The focus will be on woodland creation, but the role will also involve the provision of woodland management advice. The Adviser will work closely with colleagues, the principal project partners and an external Project Advisory Group to develop relationships, deliver events, and promote woodlands on crofts. 

This role is a 0.5 part-time post (18.75 hours/ week), working closely with the Croft Woodland Adviser for the Uists and Barra and the other members of the Croft Woodland Project team. 

Initially, a company vehicle will be provided for this role, starting with a hire vehicle for the first 6 months in post. After this initial 6-month period we will review vehicle business use to ensure the post-holder is complying with the eligibility criteria as stated in our Company Vehicle Policy.  If the post-holder complies with those criteria, a longer-term lease vehicle will be sourced and provided.

THE CANDIDATE
With experience of developing and delivering woodland creation and woodland management schemes with a focus on island/croft sites, you’ll have a good understanding of woodland and croft grant schemes and of crofting in Scotland. 

You’ll have experience of advising and working with crofters, communities, land managers and woodland owners and of working with contractors and consultants. Self-motivated and flexible, you’ll be able to plan, organise and manage your own workload and develop ideas that further the work of the project.

As a Senior Triage Officer - Children and Young people’s Service, you will be:

• Managing a team delivering initial telephone-based support and an effective triage service to those affected by crime

We’re looking for two self-starting team members who will help coordinate our JUMP befriending project for unaccompanied asylum seekers and refugees.

You’ll be responsible for half of the befriending pairs (currently 28, increasing to 50 in the coming months) and undertake tasks such as working with our partner organisations, managing referrals for young people, recruiting volunteer befrienders, and setting-up and sustaining pairs. This includes leading an initial training day.

You’ll also provide JUMP young people with casework support, help organise our group events and facilitate support from our Hardship Fund.

Main functions

Supporting young people and the JUMP Community

1. Managing a caseload of young people; including offering casework support; arranging and attending appointments with the young person where necessary and signposting to available support.
2. Helping plan and organise quarterly group events.
3. Conducting initial assessments with young people to understand their needs, and once paired with a volunteer, hosting befriending initial meetings.

 Supervising and supporting volunteers

1. Recruiting, interviewing and onboarding new befrienders, including organising and delivering training.
2. Supporting befriending volunteers through regular supervisions, meetings, emails and phone calls, and responding promptly to any safeguarding concerns raised.
3. Ensuring that volunteers uphold JUMP’s policies and boundaries for befriending.

Publicising JUMP, and engaging with key stakeholders

1. Publicising the project to existing and potential referral agencies, and establishing and maintaining excellent working relationships with them.
2. Representing HIAS+JCORE and JUMP in the refugee sector as required, for example at the Refugee and Migrant Children’s Consortium (RMCC) meetings.

Project monitoring, evaluation and record keeping

1. Working with experts and the JUMP Project Manager on supporting the project and its evaluation, and keeping accurate records in JUMP’s database.

Location: Hybrid working between home and our North London office space.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for two key individuals to join the team at Basis Yorkshire as a Sexual Exploitation Specialist (LGBTQ+). You will be providing bespoke trauma informed 1-1 and group work for Young People who have experienced, who are experiencing or who are at risk of sexual exploitation.

Salary: Band DP3 (2) - £23,550 FTE this is £18,840 actual for 28 hours a week and £14,130 for 21 hours a week

We are looking to recruit a self-motivated, enthusiastic, hard-working experienced Information & Advice Officer to join our organisation.

You will be committed to providing up-to-date information and advice to older people and their carers in outreach locations, via telephone, online and face to face. Working to approved quality standards, you will be responsible for the effective delivery of providing advice covering a range of topics including (but not exclusively); Welfare Benefits, Housing, Social Care and local services.

This is fixed term contract funded initially until November 30th 2024 and subject to review and funding thereafter.

Key responsibilities of the role:

• Provide advice covering a range of topics including (but not exclusively); Welfare Benefits, Housing, Social Care and local services.
• Provide support in managing financial issues, maximising income, payment plans, budgeting and claiming welfare benefits.
• Provide support to older people to build personal and wider community resilience and live healthier and more connected lives in their own homes for as long as possible, thereby, reducing isolation, loneliness and increasing their independence.
• Provide support with available housing options, e.g., private rented, social housing, shared accommodation.
• Work with partners to obtaining aids and adaptations to assist individuals in remaining independent in their home and reducing the impact of frailty.
• Develop a working knowledge of the information resources and office systems, which support the advice service, using them effectively and contributing to their continuous improvement.
• Keep up to date on relevant changes in the law, policies, and procedures, both locally and nationally, as they apply to and affect older people and their carers.
• To provide and maintain statistical information and case records in line with data protection regulations.
• Contribute to the maintenance of local information systems.
• To work as part of a team with other advice staff and volunteers.
• To liaise with outside agencies including Social Services and Department for Works and Pensions on behalf of clients, and for the purpose of establishing close working links.
• To make home / outreach visits as necessary
• To assist with the training and supervision of the advice volunteers.
• Promote the service to local partners and those over 50.

Experience of delivering Welfare Benefits Advice is required.
