Here at Peabody, we have an opportunity for a Team Manager (Young Persons Service) on a permanent basis for two new Ofsted Registered Supported Housing Schemes in Lambeth, due to open in June 2024.

You, as the Team Manager will support a team of Housing Support Workers to support our young customers to remain in their home and take an active part in the community. Both schemes are part of Peabody's well established Young Persons and Complex Needs service in London and will provide temporary housing for young people who are homeless aged between 16 to 17 years. 

These schemes will be supervised 7 days per week, 24 hours per day and are a 15 minute walk from one another.

What we’re looking for:

• Are you experienced in providing support as a senior support worker or as a team manager to people who have experienced trauma and have complex and challenging support needs?
• Do you have any previous experience in the housing support sector and a good knowledge of statutory and community services?
• Do you have some experience of managing and motivating a team to deliver a high-quality support service?
• Do you have experience of assessment and management of individual needs and risks?
• Are you able to communicate respectfully with and about people respecting the dignity and diversity of the people you are working with?
• Do you have any experience of working jointly with other agencies and liaising with statutory organisations?

As a Team Manager (Young Persons Service), you will support your team of Housing Support Workers and our young customers living in our supported housing properties.  You and your team will help support our young customers with all aspects of their tenancy, supporting them to be independent, helping them to reach their goals, to flourish and thrive. In developing and maintaining engaging, innovative online courses and resources, you’ll work closely with colleagues in the Education team and subject matter experts. You’ll use your specialist learning or instructional design experience to ensure our online education offer is based on sound pedagogical practice and focuses directly on meeting learner need.

• Apply the tools, principles and practice of learning design to plan, develop and maintain engaging online courses and resources about Parkinson’s and Parkinsonism for professional audiences
• Work closely with the Education Lead to ensure our education offer is sector-leading, sustainable and aligned to the Charity’s strategic priorities
• Plan, manage and deliver to schedule high-quality online courses and resources, from agreeing learning outcomes to go-live
• In production and maintenance work, collaborate with colleagues including subject matter experts (such as clinicians in the Parkinson’s Excellence Network), technical specialists and other internal colleagues
• Support the development of an effective marketing strategy for the Learning Hub, working closely with Professional Engagement, Marketing and Media team colleagues

About the Service

The Crisis Centre and rest of Nightlight Services (Café’s, Helpline, Daylight provision) is proud to provide urgent support, crisis intervention and emotional support to people experiencing a mental health crisis in Hertfordshire as an alternative to statutory pathways. We provide support to adults across Hertfordshire 7 days a week, 365 days a year through our helpline, crisis cafes and 24/7 Crisis Centre. We aim to provide a safe space for people in crisis to talk and feel supported, be listened to without judgement, access relevant support with problem solving and facilitate access to external services when necessary.

As a member of our diverse team, you will work closely with service users in crisis by using a person-centred approach to ensure that each individual is supported with dignity and respect. By honouring the individual experience of each service user, we are able to respect their autonomy as well as encourage and facilitate positive steps towards management of crisis and recovery.

About the Role

Alongside other Crisis Centre Coordinators, to be a key member of the Crisis Centre team, providing effective operational leadership delivering the Nightlight Mental Health Crisis Centre Service. You will be ensuring the delivery and development of quality crisis support services and instilling Hertfordshire Mind Network’s values throughout the provision. You will provide management support to Crisis Centre Mental Health Support Workers and support the Crisis Centre Team Leader in ensuring practice within the service is safe, effective and person centred.

Key Responsibilities

• Providing emotional support and developing, alongside service users, flexible and realistic crisis support/person-centred plans within agreed guidelines with support from the leadership team (including assessments of need, risk, crisis support plans and review forms) in person or via telephone.
• Draw upon own lived experience as appropriate to inform the delivery of person centred support.
• Providing immediate advice and information to clients to support with crisis presentations.
• Liaise with Nightlight management and external services e.g. police, ambulance service, Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Team, Single Point of Access, Safeguarding Out of Hours Service, Mental Health Liaison Teams, Adult Community Mental Health Services etc. as needed in terms of accepting referrals and proactively recognising the indicators of deteriorating mental health and facilitating appropriate support.
• Complete appropriate signposting/onward referrals to both internal and external services in accordance with identified needs and risks.
• Ensuring record keeping is maintained to the required standards at all times and contributing to service monitoring requirements.
• Arranging transport for service users to facilitate access to services as needed.
• You will line manage a number of Crisis Centre Mental Health Support Workers and be part of the operational management for the Nightlight Crisis Centre.

Degree level or a professional qualification in Health, Nursing, Social Work, Community Work or a related discipline.

Salary: £34,224 per annum (Scale point 29), progressing by increments to £36,869.25 per annum (Scale point 32). As a night shift worker, you will receive an additional allowance of £10 per night shift. This will be paid on a monthly basis along with the salary.

Hours: 33 hours per week

Working arrangements: This role will work shifts starting at 10:25pm and finishing at 07:40am. Shifts will be on a rota bases across a 7-day working week. 33 hours will be based upon working 4 nights shifts per week.

Reporting into the Beneficiary Experience and Continuity Lead you will be responsible for day-to-day management of the practitioner led assessment service, holding a small case load and reviewing and resolving complex cases with the team. 

You will work collaboratively with key stakeholders across health improvement and rehabilitation services, to ensure services are integrated, person centred, outcome focused and based on an ethos of recovery.

About the Safeguarding Officer role:

The organisation has a strong safeguarding ethos promoting the overall safety, safeguarding and welfare of all of our members. We are seeking individuals who have experience of the voluntary youth or community sector or other relevant professional field and have direct practice experience of working with children & young people in a safeguarding context.  You will have experience and knowledge of statutory requirements, understand Early Help and best practice guidance, relating to the safeguarding of children, young people and vulnerable adults.

Responsibilities as our Safeguarding Officer will include:

• Assessing and managing safeguarding allegations against those involved in the Sea Cadet Corps (SCC) and concerns about the welfare of children engaged in SCC activities
• Responding appropriately  to  concerns  affecting  a  child  and  their  safety  and  welfare  and  take  appropriate and timely action.
• Supporting,  guiding  and  coaching SCC  volunteers  to  implement  a  local  response  to  safeguarding  concerns
• Making referrals to statutory agencies e.g. Local Authority Designated Officer, Police, Children’s Services, Social Care or equivalent across the UK (including DBS, PVGS). 
• Attending strategy meetings,  networking meetings, external meetings etc. as required
• Operating on call duties out of office hours on a rota basis
• Being the Leading Officer on  safeguarding  enquiries,  including  writing  enquiry  report  in  preparation  for  enquiry  meetings,  supporting  volunteers  and  enquiry  officers  in  this  process,  reviewing  outcome  and  decision  making  in  conjunction  with  HoS/SM/Area  Officers/LADO/ Statutory agency. 

Requirements needed for our Safeguarding Officer:

• Support, guide and coach SCC volunteers to implement a local response to safeguarding concerns
• Effective and skilful management of an allocated caseload
• Lead professional – Allegation Management
• Action referrals to statutory agencies e.g. Local Authority Designated Officer, Police, Children’s Services, Social Care or equivalent across the UK (including DBS, PVGS)

About you

This role is based with our Wales & Southwest team, and we are looking for someone with particular experience and developed networks across this region. Our successful Enterprise Manager may previously have worked in roles such as Partnerships Manager, Development Manager, Fundraising Manager, Partnerships & Fundraising Manager, and will ideally have good knowledge and confidence in identifying and successfully bidding for project funding via government departments, regional agencies, statutory funders, and charitable trusts. About this key role
As our Accommodation Adviser, you will complete an Initial Needs Assessment (INA) with each service user using a strength-based approached within agreed contractual timeframes, before assessing need and risk, alert to changes that could indicate change in risk or serious harm, including personal safety and safeguarding. 

You will contribute to the design and delivery of an effective and solution-focused accommodation plan and advise and support service users to achieve successful outcomes utilising your specialist housing knowledge and a comprehensive understanding of accommodation and local service provision. Monitoring progress and recording on digital systems is also a key duty.
