Partnerships Executive - Church Events & Trips

Maternity cover, part time contract - 21 hours per week

We're at an exciting stage in the UK and International Partnerships team at Tearfund, as we reach out to a wider range of donors both inside and outside the UK and seek to secure larger gifts to enable Tearfund to help more people who are living in poverty. We have the privilege of working with a wide range of funders, as well as Tearfund's International staff, technical experts and leadership team. We enable funders to connect with the issues they are passionate about and to challenge the injustices they see.

We are looking for an excellent Partnerships Executive to lead the Events and Trips element of our work at this exciting time. You will be able to scope, plan and deliver on Events and Trips for Partnerships and in collaboration with wider Tearfund and peer agencies. 

We're looking for someone who is excellent at building positive working relationships and has experience leading on collaborative and imaginative events and/or projects.

Hybrid working: This role is eligible for hybrid working and you will be required to work from the Teddington Tearfund office and from your home by agreement with the line manager.

Contract: This is a part time (21 hours per week) maternity cover contract. The full time salary is £41,479 per annum and the part time salary is £24,887 per annum.

As Viva’s Head of Impact, you will work closely with the Network Partnerships Team Leadership to lead the development of a new approach to Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning, with the primary purpose of supporting partner networks to know their impact and share learning with each other. You will enable partner networks and Viva to build, measure and learn together, evaluating the effectiveness of programmes and methodologies, adapting them to ensure desired impact is reached and sharing learning with each other and with other development partners.

You will also work to ensure all programmes funded by Viva are accountable, well-monitored and contribute to our learning environment with clear opportunities to learn and adapt throughout the programme delivery and reporting processes.

Some of your responsibilities will include:

• Shared leadership: You will contribute to strategic decision making as part of the Network Partnerships Leadership Team and be part of shaping the vision and practice of Viva as an organisation from a Christian faith perspective.
• Viva MEAL framework: You will develop and manage a robust MEAL Framework for Viva
• Network health: You will work closely with the Network Partnerships Leadership Team to review Viva’s Network Health Check process and develop a system designed to support partner networks to build strong and sustainable networks
• Reviewing project delivery: You will work closely with Network Coaches to agree the most efficient outworking of the MEAL Framework with the Viva partner networks for projects where Viva has brokered funding.
• Evaluating Viva’s work: You will lead the process of evaluating Viva’s work, including but not limited to needs assessments, baseline survey, final evaluation, data quality audits, collecting monitoring data, network satisfaction surveys, and field supervision.
• Representing Viva: You will at different times and ways represent Viva externally, for example, through speaking in churches, prayer meetings, meeting with other Christian organisations.

This role will suit you if you:

• have at least a Bachelor’s degree in impact measurement or international development with a MEAL module, or a related field
• are experienced in working in Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning-related functions or related field
• have experience in project management including grant management and reporting
• are to demonstrate an active Christian faith, with an understanding of the Christian faith and church culture to be able to effectively engage with partner networks and churches
• think creatively and have a growth mindset, willing to challenge established ways of doing things
• enjoy working with people of different nationalities and cultures
• are looking to join a welcoming, creative, supportive and international team

Due to the nature of some of the key responsibilities, there is an Occupational Requirement for the postholder to be a Christian (Schedule 9 to the Equality Act 2010).

This is a part-time role for Viva, based anywhere in the world where Viva can employ you. If based in the UK, the full-time salary range is £36,000 to £40,000 per annum (pro-rata), depending on experience. If you are based outside of the UK, the reward package will be adjusted to reflect the relevant local market and terms and conditions.

The role can be remote, hybrid or office-based where Viva has an office (Hong Kong, UK, Uganda).

Key information

Location:                     Didcot, Oxfordshire / Flexible working.

This role can be office-based or hybrid. The role includes hosting visitors to the office and so is required to be present in the Didcot office on those days.  There is scope to work from home some of the time.  The cost of travel to BMS Didcot whether on a regular basis or infrequently, would be borne by the employee.

About the role
A key member of WVUK’s Humanitarian & International Programmes (HIP) management team, you’ll lead the unit that’s responsible for acquiring around £35m of institutional donor funding (grants & contracts) each year, as well as corporate and philanthropic proposal development on behalf of the Strategic Partnership Directorate. Defining and ensuring a consistent approach to delivering quality and timely submissions that are coordinated and informed with input from all relevant stakeholders will be important too, as will ensuring the available capacity and capability of a team to lead submission development. Line managing and developing unit members, providing strong proactive support to other HIP unit managers and playing your part in developing and delivering HIP team plans – all are aspects of this high-profile role.

About you

To succeed, you’ll need proven experience of developing and maintaining relations with institutional donors, analysing their funding requirements and shifting worldviews (particularly DFID/FCDO, EU/ECHO), and working with, managing, and developing relationships with consortium partners. You’ll also need field experience of working in different cultures and religious contexts. Proactive and creative in improving existing processes and developing new ones to improve efficiency and effectiveness, you’re adept at knowledge management within a demanding team environment and used to line managing and training, mentoring or capacity building a team.

You’re an excellent project manager too - someone who’s comfortable working on complex multiple tasks and prioritising to meet deadlines. Expertise in a specific technical area - e.g., child protection, health, nutrition, livelihoods, social accountability, resilience or economic development, would also be useful, as would working knowledge of a second language. More important however, is a general awareness of Christian teaching to appreciate the Christian ethos of WVUK and live their values. As an active Christian (Permitted under Schedule 9, Part 1 of The Equality Act 2010), this role allows you to integrate your Christian faith and be sensitive to its various expressions across cultures and denominations.

• Leading the development and delivery of a cost effective individual donor recruitment strategy
• Recruiting new individual donors, targeting individuals who have greatest potential to continue their support for the work of Tearfund throughout their lifetime and by engaging in whole life response

The successful candidate will:

• Experience in the charity sector in a fundraising or marketing leadership role
• Multi-channel marketing experience across a variety of media channels including digital marketing, social media, PR, OOH, TV and radio. 
• Strong experience of managing creative, media and digital agencies to deliver campaigns and achieve numerical and fundraising targets
• Experience in KPI tracking and analysis
• Strategic thinker who sees the big picture, capable of adapting tactics to maintain focus on delivering the high level strategy
• Good track record of managing budgets over £1m
• Excellent project management skills, with the ability to plan and manage multiple projects

This role will focus the majority of their time on the acquisition of new donors. The team works on an agile basis and there is an expectation that the postholder will develop skills in our four key fundraising domains (acquisition marketing, retention marketing, church & community engagement, legacy & in memory fundraising) and support the execution of marketing campaigns and activities in each of these areas as required.

Key areas of focus in the Acquisition Marketing domain are:

• recruiting new individuals with optimal lifetime value to Tearfund through integrated campaigns using a range of above the line, direct marketing and digital marketing channels
• helping to achieve challenging annual targets for new supporters in line with UK fundraising strategy

support as needed.

· Support the Executive Director in maintaining relationships with donors, partners, and

information, coordinating team meetings, and maintaining communication channels.

· Handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism,
maintaining confidentiality at all times.

· Undertake any other duties as assigned by the Executive Director or senior management
team.
