Working with two highly experienced Programme Coordinators, you will help to grow our existing Youth Development Team activities, currently present in Hampton, and continue the development of our newly launched Aspire project.

This is a maternity cover role for a minimum period of 6 months starting in June. You will be based in Peterborough but also spend time at our centre in Cambridge.

You will manage our Lead Youth Development Worker and Aspire Development Worker, in Peterborough, encouraging them to establish positive relationships with young people, from which we development activities, and provide advice and support.

Joining a growing Peterborough team, you’ll support the expansion of weekly groups, one-to-one work, family support, school-based alternative education, trips and residential experiences. Increasing partnership working with local community groups and agencies will be key to this.

Romsey Mill's Youth Development Team (YDT) works with disadvantaged, at-risk and vulnerable young people (aged 10 - 21 years) across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. YDT are passionate about supporting young people to overcome challenges, live fulfilling lives and inspire change in the world. We currently engage around 1200 young people each year. Aspire is the name of Romsey Mill’s project that supports autistic children and young people. We currently deliver 14 specialist youth clubs across Cambridge, Cambourne, Linton and Hampton supporting over 180 autistic young people. We’re excited about further extending the work across Peterborough. You will work out of the office Romsey Mill rents at CSK Church in Hampton for 3-4 days per week. We utilise space there and in other community facilities for the delivery of activities. You will also spend 1-2 days working from Romsey Mill Centre, Cambridge.

Key Responsibilities

Personal Administration Support

• Manage the Chief Executive’s diary, optimising the efficient use of time and resources through effective planning and ‘gate-keeping’ in a relational style that represents the charity’s values
• Ensure all necessary briefing papers and documents are compiled for the Chief Executive in good time in advance of meetings
• Prepare and present excellent Powerpoint and other presentations for internal and external audiences, e.g., meetings with donors, trustees and other key stakeholders.

Governance Support

• Co-ordinate and attend Trustees’ meetings, including arranging dates, preparing papers in advance, taking and sending out minutes
• Administrate the Investors’, Communications, Fundraising, Strategy and Finance, and other Trustee Steering Groups
• Support with various ad hoc projects to enable robust organisational governance
• Coordinate the Strategic Delivery team monthly meeting, and Senior Leadership Team weekly meeting, including organising meeting dates, preparing agendas and sending out minutes, as well as ensuring follow-up actions are completed
• Provide administrative support to the wider senior leadership team

About the role
 

As a Strategic Development Manager, you’ll work within the Partnerships Department and play a key role to build on existing significant relationships. In addition, develop new larger Key Partner Relationships and be actively involved with our strategy to selected Church and Event networks.

Experience in international development, and/or UK politics is desired but not required. We are looking for a team player with enthusiasm and a willingness to learn and grow. Growing Hope seeks a highly-motivated and experienced Director of Operations who is passionate about our mission. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the charity’s essential operations.

Operations [10%]

• Liaise with relevant staff regarding site operations and work to resolve any issues as soon as possible, ensuring the office and training room are safe and tidy working spaces in line with health and safety policies

• You have demonstrable experience in coaching, teaching or training and development, as well as being keen to develop these skills further
• You are an experienced and mature leader/line manager, or have great leadership potential, and are eager to bring out the best in your team
• You are confident building relationships with a variety of stakeholders, with effective written and verbal communication skills
• You are steady under pressure, and able to juggle competing priorities
• You are looking for a varied, hands-on role, where you won't be tied to a desk
• You are IT literate

This role requires occasional evening work, for our termly Spear Celebrations (where we celebrate our trainees as they complete the initial six weeks of the programme)
