Chell Perkins Ltd are looking for FOUR people who are passionate about bringing positive change through fundraising. We want to nurture a new generation of fundraisers to provide charities with access to exceptional fundraising support.

We offer a four-month/16-week fully paid traineeship (approx £1,700pm gross) working with real clients in a fundraising consultancy and gaining a recognised certificate with education credits towards CFRE to give you a real headstart in working in the charity sector. There are a number of vacancies at Chell Perkins, and at the end of the course trainees will be eligible to apply for a permanent position.

This immersive programme starts on 2nd September 2024 and is home-based, with high-quality training and plenty of support from our experienced fundraising team.

Client mix

We are seeking to appoint a Development Manager to raise funds to further enhance the quality of education for students at Wallington County Grammar School. This includes through investment in capital projects, teaching resources and staffing the curriculum. About You:

• Educated to degree-level/equivalent educational standard, or significant equivalent work experience
• Strong understanding of the role of research in can play in protecting the reputation and future proofing WaterAid
• Good knowledge and applied understanding of GDPR implications, ethical checks and other related compliance issues
• Experience maintaining confidentiality and ensuring information is recorded in compliance with GDPR
• Experience using a range of research methodologies and tools to complete due diligence checks, and manage WaterAid's resources for ethical and reputational risk

Job Purpose

This role sits within our Adult Services, across Hammersmith, Fulham, Ealing, Hounslow. You will be responsible for the operational delivery and service development, of a portfolio of services. Namely (but subject to change):

• Safe Space Community
• Safe Space ED
• Hounslow Helpline
• Nova Roots (Forensic Community Hub)

One large service you will be responsible for is our crisis alternative service – Safe Space - which is a tri-borough out of hours service providing a safe and welcoming space for people who are feeling distressed and experiencing crisis. The service operates 365 days a year from 12:00(midday) – 11:30pm across all of our boroughs. You will be responsible for managing peripatetic teams: we currently have 3 in person Safe Spaces and based in 3 A&E.

Staff within the service will provide person-centred, practical and emotional support, face to face or via telephone on a one-to-one or group basis to individuals experiencing mental health crisis.

The objectives of the service include:

• To improve the mental wellbeing of people experiencing mental health crisis in HFEH.
• To provide support to clients accessing the service- for instance: signposting, de-escalation, planned wellbeing activities etc.
• To contribute to an improvement in individual mental wellbeing.
• To remain a source of independent support for all clients.
• To treat service users with respect, dignity and personalised support
• To raise awareness of mental health services available with the goal to improve long term mental health and reduce social isolation
• To increase self-management skills of those accessing the service
• To reduce the use of police, ambulance and statutory mental health services whilst experiencing crisis.
• To reduce the use of statutory crisis services by people experiencing mental ill health without positive outcomes for the individual.

The Role

The role of the Crisis Alternative Service Manager will provide operational management, mobilisation and service development of all Crisis Services within Adult Services. The ideal candidate will have experience of mobilising and developing high quality, large services. In addition to managing and supporting staff working within challenging environments and experience of working with challenging behaviour and complex needs. The Service Manager will hold all operational risk.

Excellent organisation and decision-making skills are essential for this role, as it requires being able to manage time effectively to meet tight deadlines and work unsupervised during evenings and weekends. You will also be required to be rostered into the on-call rota.

The Crisis Alternative Service Manager will be required to work collaboratively with the Director of Adult Services and will be proficient at communicating effectively with staff at all levels, a wide range of key stakeholders and service users. They will ensure the service is well resourced from a staffing perspective and embed high-quality operational plans and processes.

They will be responsible for the delivery, progression and continual improvement of the service. They will have responsibility for ensuring Crisis Services operate in line with organisational H&S processes and procedures, HFEH Mind policies and CQC requirements.

 We are recruiting a Project Coordinator to oversee the delivery and development of a flagship Community Wellbeing Project, which operates in partnership with Brent Council. The project is a Community Hub hosted in a community space in Stonebridge (not in Sufra’s existing premises). Members of the project can access a Community Shop, a Community Café and Kitchen, and holistic support in the form of Advice casework and workshops. The objective of the project is to deliver food aid alongside wraparound holistic support in way that improves the financial, physical and mental wellbeing of its members, who are struggling with the cost of living.

This collaborative project has been made possible due to the support of multiple partners and has already proven highly successful. It is likely to form the basis of a new model of support for people experiencing vulnerabilities that will be replicated across Brent and possibly elsewhere in London.

The Project Coordinator will oversee the delivery of the project, ensuring both the shop and the café operate effectively and in accordance with agreed standards and procedures. The successful candidate will help shape the project in the months ahead, whilst supporting guests, collecting data, and monitoring and evaluating the project. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a busy and varied environment, managing multiple priorities at the same time. They will have experience in a customer-facing role, dealing with the general public and managing volunteers. It would be beneficial for the post holder to have experience supporting vulnerable people with complex needs from a wide variety of backgrounds. The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for members that sign onto the pilot project, and will be representing the organisation to external partners. Since 2017, Worldwide Radiology has been steadily growing from a small group of founding UK radiologists with experience of working in limited resource settings to an international team of around 50 long-term volunteers from a range of different imaging and clinical backgrounds.

Overview

The Programme Manager role will be crucial to the success and development of the charity. You will be responsible for the management and delivery of 3+ Worldwide Radiology projects, operating across Malawi, Ghana and The Gambia.

The Programme Manager will be responsible for quickly grasping the needs of three ongoing projects, steering them toward desired impact, ensuring compliance with donor requirements, and managing risks effectively to bring these projects into shape.

The successful candidate will be responsible for working with key stakeholders, including our volunteers, partners and donors to build and nurture strong working relationships. 

​

They will contribute to seeking out further grant opportunities within the sector, working closely with the rest of the programmes team and the fundraising team.

(a) oversee the smooth running of our projects; 

(b) provide strong, holistic solutions, focused on operational leadership; and 

(c) support the overall growth and development of the organisation.
 

Role-Specific Responsibilities

1. Provide overall day-to-day management for WWR projects and WWR volunteers, reporting directly to the WWR Director.

2. Oversee the development and operational execution of detailed work-plans and budgets for WWR programme

3. Track all milestones and reporting schedules, taking timely action to ensure they are met.

4. Develop and deliver project MEAL activities in collaboration with our external MEAL consultant.

5. Produce (gather, collate and edit)  high quality, timely project progress, annual and donor-specific reports.

6. Oversee the management of partnership agreements and contracts in accordance with the donor specific requirements.

7. Support the identification and securing of new grant opportunities in collaboration with the programmes and fundraising teams.

8. Communicate administrative and technical information to WWR project partners in a timely, sensitive and effective manner.

9. Assist team members, volunteers, partners and members of the public with queries, demonstrating tact and understanding when dealing with complex and serious issues, deliver a consistently high and appropriate level of service and support to individuals contacting WWR.

10. Assist with recruitment, onboarding, induction and management of both UK and international WWR volunteers.
     

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

• Educated to degree level or equivalent work experience.

• Experience in grant or contract management in a humanitarian or development environment.

• Demonstrable experience of adhering to principles, methods, techniques and tools for the effective management and administration of programmes and project lifecycles.

• Demonstrable experience of applying monitoring systems and managing budgets.

• Experience of communicating with a wide range of stakeholders.

• Experience working in the nonprofit sector.
