Job title: Regional Director, East and Southern Africa
Principal Location: Nairobi (other strategic locations in East Africa negotiable)

Role Purpose:

Street Child is a rapidly growing, child-focused, humanitarian and development organisation. In 2023, Street Child celebrated reaching over one million children across 25 countries over its fifteen years of existence. This was accomplished with and through a growing network of more than 200 national and local actors. The Regional Director will be a standard bearer of this ambition in East and Southern Africa, providing leadership across all countries where Street Child is operational while monitoring and pursuing growth opportunities across the region. As Street Child’s most senior representative in the region, the Regional Director will guide and drive the organisation to deliver on the objective of ensuring all children are safe, in school, and learning.

As Street Child actively seeks opportunities to expand its support for the most marginalized girls and boys, the Regional Director will be responsible for providing outstanding leadership and for resourcing and delivering high impact programming across East and Southern Africa. The Regional Director will work to identify and advance partnerships with regional, national, and local actors, as well as donors. This will require bringing a strong network to the role along with energy to represent Street Child in organisational, regional, and global forums. As Street Child country teams drive delivery for girls and boys, the Regional Director will work with country directors to develop high-functioning teams to deliver and resource ambitious regional and country strategies.

The Regional Director will manage one regional programme coordinator and will progressively assume responsibility for line management of country directors in East and Southern Africa.

Key Responsibilities:

• The Regional Director will act as chief motivator, working collaboratively with country, regional, and head office teams to:
• Cultivate enthusiastic and high-performing teams through outstanding leadership:
• Build, lead and motivate an ambitious and enthusiastic team of Street Child Country Directors and Strategic Leadership Teams.
• Oversee and support the recruitment and development of passionate, motivated, and technically excellent Street Child staff.
• Strengthen Street Child’s culture of learning, for both staff and local partners, by identifying professional and organisational development opportunities that respond to self-identified capacity gaps.
• Build a supportive network of learning and information exchange between regional county teams.
• Be a frequent in-person presence in operational countries, sometimes spending extended periods to support leadership at the country level, including in insecure contexts.
• Oversee the management of partnerships in countries in East and Southern Africa where Street Child does not maintain a direct presence.
• Drive resource mobilization across the East and Southern Africa region, for country programmes, regional strategy, and partners:
• In close collaboration with country leadership, identify country-level needs, seek out opportunities, and support in the development of winning proposals for country programmes.
• Across the region, identify needs and gaps, and drive new potential expansion opportunities in line with Street Child’s global strategy.
• Guide programmatic excellence across the region through robust strategy development and high-quality programme delivery:
• Develop a technically robust and evidence-based regional strategy that identifies Street Child’s comparative value and strategic goals in the region, across humanitarian, development and refugee contexts.
• Continuously consult with Country Directors, programme managers and local partners to ensure programme design and delivery is iterative, adaptive and quality-assured and impact is clearly measured.
• Provide support to local partners to develop organisational development plans and their own high-functioning leadership structures.
• Oversee and work closely with the regional finance team in their development and delivery of accurate, value for money budgets and robust operational processes.
• Ensure that operations and programmes in East and Southern Africa are conducted in line with Street Child’s policies and standards, including in the areas of safeguarding, safety and security, HR, finance.

1) Be a passionate representative of Street Child and our partners, across the organisation and in external forums:

• Represent Street Child at the highest level in East and Southern Africa, including pro-active participation in relevant coordination mechanisms at national and regional level.
• Represent Street Child and the needs of children in East and Southern Africa in global for a as required.

2) Advance and diversify partnerships with the local actors who respond to the needs of girls and boys in their communities, and with donors who can resource the work:

• Lead the development of strategic partnerships with relevant actors including donors, INGOs and local/national government, including at the regional level.
• Oversee the development of a resource mobilisation strategy for the region based on Street Child’s expertise and donor priorities.
• Lead and/or support Country Directors in the development of high-quality and highly competitive institutional funding proposals.
• Proactive engagement with Street Child UK head office and programmes team on strategic, networking and fundraising activities.
• The Key Responsibilities provide a high-level view of the Regional Director role. These responsibilities will evolve as the Regional Director expands Street Child’s reach across East and Southern Africa. Street Child operates with an entrepreneurial spirit that may require staff to step-up and step-in to reasonable tasks beyond the initial description of their role. The Regional Director may occasionally be called upon to provide surge or scoping support to other parts of Street Child Programmes as delegated by the Director of Global Programmes.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Significant senior management experience, leading high-functioning programme regional or county teams in the humanitarian and development sector. Previous experience as a country or regional director is preferred.
• Strong strategic thinker, with demonstrated expertise developing, resourcing, and delivering strategic plans at the regional or country level.
• Demonstrable experience of proposal development and/or winning funding; Experience in both humanitarian and development contexts.
• Strong command of the localisation agenda, and commitment to local level leadership and decision-making.
• Strong experience delivering high quality education and/or child protection programming.
• Excellent written and spoken communications in English.
• Experience working in the East and Southern Africa region.
• Demonstrated experience working closely with and in support of a multitude of partners including those from local civil society, government, and the private sector.
• Excellent relationship building skills, with an ability to skillfully navigate both national and international stakeholders.
• Willingness to actively engage in program development with country teams including extended missions to support at country level (significant travel expected).
• Additional language skills with a preference for Swahili, Portuguese, French, Somali, or other regional language

About the Team

This interim role reports to the Director of Communications, Policy and Campaigns (CPC), alongside other Assistant Directors.

The CPC team drives Shelter's campaigns for social housing and renters' rights, supporting our services and income generation efforts.

You'll manage heads of important content and engagement teams, driving strategic direction and collaboration across functions.

About the Role

As Assistant Director Communications and Content, you'll lead Shelter's communication efforts, ensuring impact, reach and a coherent organisational voice.

You'll oversee media teams, drive cross-channel campaigns, and develop ambitious communication strategies. With your experience in matrix management and project/change management, you'll guide teams to achieve our strategic goals amidst organisational change.

You'll take ultimate responsibility for our campaign to achieve Proportional Representation in the House of Commons. You will:

• as leader of the campaign, be primarily responsible for building the popular and political momentum needed to secure this seismic reform;
• as leader of the organisation, be primarily responsible for defining and executing MVM’s strategy, while ensuring its good financial health and legal and regulatory compliance; and
• as leader to our staff and volunteer team, be primarily responsible for providing clarity of direction while ensuring the organisation maintains a collaborative, empowering and inspiring culture.

You will:

• lead the UK campaign for Proportional Representation;
• ensure MVM has a clear external brand, with consistent messages, effective and emotive arguments, and impactful use of evidence;
• be a spokesperson for the organisation on a variety of public platforms including national media and at key MVM events;
• create and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders;
• lead on development of MVM's post-election strategic plan;
• line manage and delegate responsibilities to staff, as appropriate;
• take ultimate responsibility for the good governance of MVM, including but not limited to the organisation’s financial health, legal compliance, and good standing with regulatory bodies;
• with support of relevant MVM staff, to ensure that the Board is supported in performing its governance role;

• undertake other related duties as required to assist MVM in meeting its objectives.

We are working in partnership with Hampshire Cultural Trust (HCT), who were established as an independent charity in 2014. HCT operate visitor attractions, galleries, museums, and arts centres across Hampshire, and are responsible for conserving and maintaining one of the largest and most significant regional collections of historical artefacts in the country. Their charitable purpose is to change lives through culture, both for Hampshire’s residents and for visitors to the county, placing particular emphasis on reaching individuals, groups and communities who are vulnerable or disadvantaged, breaking down barriers of access to arts and culture.

HCT are now seeking to appoint a Director of Development to lead and deliver a trust-wide strategic approach to fundraising, in alignment with organisational needs and priorities. The director will develop and lead a high performing team and will be responsible for growing income from a range of sources, including trusts and grants, individual giving and developing a philanthropy programme based on a portfolio of designated funds to support strategic projects and ongoing revenue funding. This role sits on the SLT, with shared responsibility for setting and realising the organisation’s goals, strategic priorities, and business plan.

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate:

• Significant experience in fundraising, including developing and implementing successful development strategies and securing income from a wide range of sources.
• Significant experience in securing philanthropic gifts at the five and six figure level.
• Strong track record in developing successful proposals and securing grants from trusts and statutory funders, with an ability to convey information in a concise, relevant, and compelling way.
• Experience of managing and developing high-performing teams, and senior stakeholder relationships, including donors and funders.
• Good working knowledge of charity finance, budgeting, and reporting.

The Director of Operations will work as part of the management team to develop and implement the organisation’s strategy and operational plans and to build the longer term sustainability of the organisation. They will be required to deputise for the Chief Officer in their absence and assist in the overall management of the organisation. Post Summary

The Ace of Clubs is a Day Centre for Homeless and Vulnerable people that has operated for 30 years in Clapham, south London. It is under the Trusteeship of the Redemptorists of the London Province; a Roman Catholic Religious Congregation of priests and brothers and it is staffed and managed by a staff of lay professionals. It is a Registered Charity.

The Director leads a core staff of dedicated professionals who with the assistance of volunteers; manage the day-to-day operation of the Ace of Clubs; ensuring the efficient delivery of its range of services to its clients.

The Ace of Clubs charity has grown over the past thirty years expanding its range of support services with the help of partners:  Glassdoor (who provide housing and services advice), START Homeless Outreach Team who support people experiencing Homelessness & Rough Sleeping and the NHS who hold clinics at Ace of Clubs centre, both dental and medical with nurses visiting on a weekly basis.

The principal responsibilities of the Director:  to provide overall leadership within the organisation, the management of the core staff, regular reviews of performance both for AoC, the core staff and partners; developing a strategic plan with regular reviews.  S/he will exercise oversight of the AoC’s finances.  

The Director will also work closely with the chair of the AoC Trustees Management Committee to whom s/he will report regularly.

The key to the sustaining of the Charity’s core services is Fundraising. The Director will lead on Fundraising: identifying and meeting with appropriate funders; preparing the bids as per the required specifications; drafting monitoring reports and ‘keeping funders warm!’

Key Objectives and Responsibilities

Line Management

· Overall leadership and management of the charity staff team, working directly with staff, volunteers and centre users.

· Line management of the Centre Manager on a regular basis; conducting appraisals and agreeing ‘targets’ going forward.

· Line management of the Ace Charity shop manager; weekly meetings; conducting appraisals and agreeing ‘targets’ going forward

· Manage all staff team development, including recruitment, appointment, training, performance management at the centre, during projects and in the shop.

Budgetary Management

· In close collaboration with the Treasurer to manage the day-to-day finances of the Charity. To develop and manage the charity’s future financial strategy of the charity, including setting the annual budget and forecasts, reporting on the financial performance of the charity in conjunction with working in collaboration with the Treasurer and regularly reporting to the board of Trustees.

Review, Monitoring and Evaluation

· To undertake regular reviews of the Charity’s policies, procedures, practices, and documentation, to update and develop, ensuring all H&S and Safeguarding protocols reflect current best practice.

Knowledge, Skills and Certification Required

· Established Managerial experience of managing projects for homeless and vulnerable people, showing a strong knowledge of the homeless sector, how it works, and what the issues are facing homeless people and the charity’s wishing to support them (London based experience preferable).

· Successful long-term experience working with, helping, and relating well to homeless and vulnerable people, understanding the issues they face whilst also at times needing to be able to draw boundaries for people, including, at times, having to exclude people from services for periods of time, as appropriate.

· Demonstrable experience in strategic planning showing an ability to maintain existing donor relationships whilst developing new sources of income and diversifying a funder base, including making bid applications for funding and managing and/or completing all relevant monitoring reporting.

· Up to date knowledge of current best practice and experience in the implementation of all matters of Health and Safety, and Safeguarding and so forth, which shows an ability to manage these things in a way that keeps projects up to date and progressing with such standards.

· Experience in management tasks such as recruitment, staff management and appraisal, team building, chairing meetings, writing and collecting reports, monitoring, drawing up meeting minutes, action plans, good prioritising of work, adaptability of approach and so forth.

For more than 50 years, the British Dyslexia Association (BDA) has been the voice of people living with dyslexia. We aim to influence government and other institutions to promote a dyslexia friendly society that enables dyslexic people of all ages to reach their full potential. Our next CEO will continue to oversee these whilst laying the foundations for our next strategy cycle which we intend to publish in 2026. As such, the timing of this appointment allows the successful candidate the opportunity to work with the Board and other key stakeholders to articulate the long-term vision for our charity, establishing a plan that enables us to expand our reach and deepen our programmes.

The role of CEO at the BDA is one of both challenge and immense reward, offering the chance to lead a passionate and skilled team dedicated to making a tangible difference in society. The ideal candidate will bring strategic thinking, leadership experience and a commitment to promoting inclusion for our beneficiaries in education, in work and in life. About the role

We are based in Soho, London, and whilst we have a hybrid working culture there is an expectation that 3 days per week will be office-based.

Chief Executive Officer

High Peak CVS is a charitable organisation that supports community and voluntary groups across the High Peak area of Derbyshire. An exciting opportunity has now arisen and we are looking to recruit our new Chief Executive Officer.

The main purpose of the job is to ensure and deliver the co-ordinated and sustainable operation and future development of High Peak CVS as the infrastructure organisation for the voluntary and community sector in the High Peak of Derbyshire.

This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role for an organisation who do great work.

As Chief Executive Officer you will lead the charity to ensure we deliver a high quality service to the local community, our members and partners.

You will look at developing new areas of work within the organisation’s aims and objectives as well as seeking sustainability and continuity with current projects.

 MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide effective leadership, supervision and management to the staff and volunteer team, ensuring that appropriate targets are set and delivered.
• Negotiate, prepare and develop applications and contracts to enable the development of agreed projects and work programmes.
• Explore and appraise potential new initiatives for the CVS, providing detailed recommendations to the Board of Trustees/Directors.
• In conjunction with the Board of Trustees/Directors plan, develop, implement and monitor strategies to ensure the current and future viability of the CVS.
• Maintain and develop new and existing relationships with stakeholders from all sectors, providing leadership and direction.
• Provide effective, inclusive representation of the High Peak VCS in a wide range of forums.
• Carry out work in accordance with all external regulations and CVS policies and procedures, developing new ones where necessary.
• Work in collaboration with the Board of Trustees to ensure the organisation meets its legal obligations, operates within its charitable objects and has good management of its financial and staffing resources.
• Report to the Board of Trustees on internal and external developments.
• Ensure that the organisation has the appropriate management systems and structures in place to carry out its work effectively and safely.
• Contribute to writing grant applications for future projects and core work. Undertake training and development as required.
