The Direct Marketing Manager, Retention, is a newly developed role at the DEC, responsible for shaping and delivering new and existing supporter journeys for DEC individual, community and legacy donors, and leading a programme of improvement across all major contact points between the DEC and the public.
The Direct Marketing Manager, Retention will:
- Contribute to and develop DEC direct marketing strategies, including the refreshing, implementation and analysis of the DEC’s segmentation, to maximise future income and continually improve the retention of individual supporters for future emergency appeals,
- Lead on the production of retention and reporting back materials for individual and community supporters,
- Manage the development and maintenance of specific supporter journeys,
- Develop and oversee the materials and supporter positioning for a light touch and mainly reactive legacy marketing programme for the DEC.
Key responsibilities include:
Strategy and Planning
- Develop and implement the direct marketing retention strategy, ensuring that past learnings are built upon, and new ideas are tested.
- Develop and implement specific audience journeys for segments across both the life cycle of a DEC appeal and between appeals.
- Ensure timely and relevant communications to all direct marketing, community, and legacy audiences on the impact of their donations.
- Build an improved supporter journey strategy for new, repeat, and lapsed donors.
- Lead, design, and monitor the collection of audience insight during appeals.
Fundraising
- Develop the DEC’s donor journeys for individuals and community supporters, monitoring the development of segments and the engagement of repeat donors.
- Provide analysis during and following an appeal of performance to measure and report performance against key indicators and develop recommendations for improving impact in the next appeal.
- Support the stewardship of community fundraisers and groups in conjunction with the Supporter Services team.
Networking and building relationships
- Develop excellent working relationships with the DEC’s suppliers including creative agencies, media agencies, SMS and email suppliers, and the print/mailing house.
- Work with permanent and temporary staff at the DEC during appeals to maximise the success of the appeal.

What You'll Be Doing
You will be joining the Team, a warm friendly and welcoming group, to provide a high-quality service to clients in Walton on Thames, Molesey, Hersham, Thames Ditton, Hinchley Wood and Cobham. They currently support 65 clients with a range of needs. Their clients include individuals who are homeless, some with mental health issues, those in recovery from substance misuse, and young people.
A little more about your day as a Housing & Support Officer:
- Act as a keyworker to clients, helping them achieve their goals and live independently.
- Family mediation and support, bringing families back together.
- Work with a community of professionals to support the right outcomes.
- Problem solving together and debriefs sharing experiences and learning as a team.
- Support clients with repair issues and repayment agreements for rent arrears.
- Carry out room inspections, health and safety checks and make rooms homely for new residents.

Purpose of the job
This role is an exciting opportunity for an outstanding individual to join the UK Youth Fundraising team. Key responsibilities
- Lead and secure income from new corporate organisations and achieve new business targets

This is an exciting new role, contributing to the development and implementation of our new income generation strategy. Reporting to the Fundraising Manager, this role will work closely with colleagues across the organisation including those in PR, marketing, data, and finance to deliver engaging communications to our offline audience.
Working alongside the Fundraising Manager you will use your excellent copywriting and creative skills to develop fundraising appeals for the organisation that inspire our donors to contribute financially to our organisation.
Working closely with our data and administration teams you will maintain effective response handling, ensuring donations are processed in line with best practice guidelines, donors are thanked promptly and supporter records on our CRM are maintained and updated.
Between mass mailings you will work closely with the wider engagement and communications team to deliver outward-bound communications tasks, such as ongoing targeted telephone fundraising campaigns, calling potential and existing supporters to acquire new donors and reactivate lapsed donors. Using your excellent communication skills to increase engagement, income and drive long-term relationships.
You will have excellent time management skills and be an enthusiastic self-starter with a hands-on approach, capable of working independently or as part of a multi-disciplined team. Your fundraising knowledge and experience will help advance animal protection on the international stage.

Our Philanthropy Coordinator will proactively track and manage a pipeline of next and existing High Net Worth Individuals and support HorseWorld's Major Donor Working Group comprising the Chair of Trustees, CEO and Heads of Departments. You will be expected to provide insight and identify opportunities for connection plus manage and track the stewardship tools to guide donors through their giving journey, including cultivation plans, sourcing and presenting tailored information for donors. Facilitating and attending meetings and events, both in person and online, you will be ensuring steps are being taken to nurture donor relationships.
Collaboration is key as you will work with colleagues and volunteers across the organisation to support HorseWorld's fundraising efforts.
You will also initiative the relationship management of a new portfolio of mid value donors and prospects; ensuring the donors you work with are engaged with our cause, and that you are responding to their individual stewardship needs as you keep them updated with our work.
