You’ll play an integral role in the Strategic Projects Team and work closely with our Music and Communications Teams to engage new audiences with War Child’s mission and generate sustainable income.
Sometimes you will proactively lead initiatives, at other times you will support the delivery of big cross-departmental projects, from War Child’s Secret 7”, the Shop for Good, to our legendry entertainment events. You will also support departmental learning and strategic planning, collecting insights and evaluating activities to ensure that our Fundraising and Communications remains innovative, ambitious and successful.

In Afghanistan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Iraq, Kosovo, Nigeria, Rwanda, and South Sudan, women learn skills to rebuild their families and communities through the Women for Women International’s Stronger Women, Stronger Nations Programme.

The Role
This role will join a small and dedicated Corporate Partnerships team, responsible for delivering a seven figure income budget annually.
The role will be pivotal in the continued growth of Corporate Partnerships at Women for Women International. With a history of delivering high-profile cause-related marketing campaigns, and having recently secured several partnerships with global fundraising potential, this is an exciting time to join the team.
With a vision to grow global partnerships, this role will support identifying and delivering new partnerships from companies in collaboration with colleagues across UK, Germany and US teams.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with previous experience in account management and working within business development. Previous charity sector experience is desirable, however, transferrable talents will also be considered for this role.

About the Role
Following a period of exponential growth in foundations and major gifts of over five-fold in five years, we're seeking an ambitious and dynamic Philanthropy Manager - Major Gifts and Foundations to take the c£1.5m programme to twice this value in the next three years. You'll be responsible for the success of the overall major gifts and foundations strategy to engage, retain and inspire loyal supporters and partners in addition to attracting new, long-term, multi-year funders.
You will work across the organisation, including with trustees, to develop relationships and funding applications to foundations. You will build lasting relationships with high-net-worth individuals and families, and help foster a culture of philanthropy and partnerships across the organization, with the sponsorship of the Senior Management Team.
About you
Your main tasks will include growing sustainable income from grant-making trusts and major donors donating to Anti-Slavery International's work in the UK and internationally, designing and implementing robust prospect research, and managing a small personal portfolio of donors and prospects.
To be successful in this role, you will have a track record of success in six-figure+ multi-year restricted and unrestricted funding from high-net-worth individuals, trusts, and foundations. You will have a proven ability to develop, manage, and deliver against accurate budgets and forecasts, and excellent bid-writing skills that have generated considerable income from trusts and foundations and high net-worth individuals, ideally in an international organization.
You will have a positive attitude, resilience, and self-motivation driven by a passion for the cause. You will be able to think strategically, identify opportunities, make decisions and prioritise effectively and, as a manager within Anti-Slavery International, demonstrate leadership, initiative, and a strong desire to achieve agreed objectives.

About the role

A critical part of the role is also managing the Foundation’s CRM (Raisers’ Edge) system across the organisation.
You will be line managed and supported day-to-day by the Senior Fundraising Manager, who will work with you to upskill and develop you in the charity sector. This is a pivotal role in supporting the smooth running of the team. It can offer you the opportunity to develop your fundraising skills and gain experience in international development, as well as the opportunity to meet a diverse range of interesting stakeholders.

About the Team:
The Supporter Care Team sits within the Supporter Operations and Experience Team in the Mass Engagement Department. Through building rapport and loyalty with current and potential supporters, the Supporter Care Team aims to help WaterAid achieve our ambitious fundraising and engagement targets and contribute to our overall global strategy. We deliver exceptional supporter experience and champion this across the organisation.
About the Role:
The purpose of this role is to deliver an exceptional experience to current and potential supporters through engagement of the highest quality; helping with all enquiries, reassuring concerns and complaints, and ensuring supporters feel valued and a key part of our work. This will be through direct communication via a variety of channels including inbound and outbound calls, post, email and social media. This role will build loyal, committed supporters who are happy to share our work with friends, family and community.
In this role, you will be the first point of contact to engage, inspire and motivate people to be part of our vital work for the long term.
You'll also:
- Help with donations and enquiries, and resolve complaints
- Make outbound calls to thank those supporting our work, and to support their fundraising
- Send personalised thank you letters
- Update supporter details in line with compliance requirements
About You:
- Proven experience of excellent customer/supporter service skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent telephone manner with the ability to build rapport on the phone and to engage with supporters
- Good working knowledge of MS office, especially Word, Excel and Outlook
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise own workload effectively in order to maintain high service level standards and efficiency.
- Self-motivated with the ability to take initiative
- Attention to detail with the ability to quality check own work
- Proactive problem-solving abilities
- Ability to deal confidently and effectively with people from different backgrounds using most appropriate types of medium

You will produce impactful and effective publicity materials and brochures. In addition you will have a key role in researching and writing funding proposals/applications for individuals, trusts and foundations as well as liaising regularly with Relationship Managers to produce tailored reports and communications for individual donors and prospects. You will need to be educated to degree level with a focus on English communications/marketing. Recent experience of researching complex issues and financial information to produce compelling written reports is essential, as is multi-tasking, managing deadlines and maintaining attention to detail.
While this role is base at the MAF UK Offices in Folkestone, Kent, we are open to potential hybrid working in line with our flexible working policy, the needs of the business, the requirements of the role and your location. This will be discussed at interview.
Our working hours are at least 36 hours per week, with 1 hour for lunch daily unpaid. Hours should be agreed with line manager.

We are a team of passionate volunteers in the UK and Tanzania who are dedicated to alleviating the extreme poverty that thousands of children in our partner communities face. In 10 years, our team of volunteers have fundraised over £700,000 (approximately 50% of which has come from Trusts and Foundations) and empowered over 25,000 children through our work.
The need for our support in Tanzania, whether that’s constructing new classrooms, delivering menstruation programmes or installing clean water, is growing. We have active partnerships with 9 rural government schools with engaged communities and have several projects planned at each school. We need help from the Trusts and Foundations Fundraiser to raise the funds to implement these projects over the next few years alongside our other sources of income.
Specific responsibilities:

Managing our existing portfolio consisting primarily of Trusts and Foundations giving between £5k-£50k

Write compelling, concise, well-presented, tailored grant applications in Google Docs.

Research and develop new trusts, foundations and corporates.

Report on progress of current prospects through the fundraising cycle

Work with the Founding Director with reporting to Trust and Foundation funders that you’ve had success.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all fundraising activity, including proposals, applications, and donor interactions

Knowledge, skills & experience required

Your new role
