We’re looking for someone with first level NMC registration, who has a highly specialised knowledge of Parkinson’s, and recent experience of supporting a wide range of people with Parkinson’s from diagnosis to end of life within health and social care settings. 

About the role 

You’ll provide expert nursing advice, support and information on Parkinson’s and related conditions to people contacting Parkinson’s UK national helpline. 

You’ll empower people affected by Parkinson’s, their families, friends and carers to live lives that are as fulfilling as possible whatever that means to them; and that they feel able to take an active role in their treatment and become their own advocate in health and life, wherever possible.

What you’ll do:

• Provide expert telephone nursing advice, support and information on Parkinson’s, signposting clients to appropriate internal and external resources as necessary.

• Develop and update professional knowledge of all aspects of Parkinson’s and Parkinsonism to ensure that the information and advice provided is accurate and based on best available evidence.

• Undertake national helpline work to ensure cover across the helpline’s working hours and in line with guidance and as part of a dedicated team.

• Maintain your own knowledge of the work of the charity and other health and social care providers.

What you’ll bring:

• Ability to provide information on Parkinson’s medications without prescribing or recommending specific drugs. 

• Knowledge of the importance of raising safeguarding concerns.

• Experience of providing telephone support, including use of active listening and questioning skills, and demonstrable digital competence, including online case management systems

This role is key to Alzheimer’s Society’s ambitions to drive major, and positive, change at a national level particularly across Wales at an exciting time in dementia policy. 
 
The National Influencing Manager will play a central role in ensuring what the Society thinks about the big issues affecting people affected by dementia is acted upon by national decision makers. Working arrangements

As a result of growing need within the Armed Forces Community, Help for Heroes has ambitious plans to make a leap in impact, with investment in their High Value Partnerships team to position us as the philanthropic partner of choice for those who can create lasting change for the Armed Forces Community.

The Stewardship and Events team, with the Senior Stewardship and Events Manager leading, plays an important role in transforming our high value fundraising through the development of transformative funding propositions, high profile fundraising and stewardship events and the creation of the highest quality stewardship tools.

This role will be a crucial part of the High Value Partnerships leadership team and represents a fantastic opportunity to support the growth and development of our major donor, trust and statutory and corporate partnerships portfolios.

About You

You will have experience of building compelling cases for support, bids and partnership concepts specifically for major donors, companies and grant funders. You will have a flair for translating complex information into simple concise and compelling communications in a range of formats. You will also have excellent attention to detail, with experience of interpreting financial and impact data.

You will have experience in developing a special events programme to support engagement and high value fundraising; understanding the importance of events within high value stewardship plans.

Your excellent relationship building, influencing and negotiation skills combined with your experience of working with a range of internal teams and external stakeholders will ensure that the needs of our high value funding audiences are met and understood.

You will be a highly experienced people manager and leader, possessing strong relationship and project management skills. You will have excellent organisational skills and the ability to work across a number of conflicting deadlines and priorities. You will ideally be able to demonstrate fundraising experience and previous experience of working with high net worth individuals and committees is advantageous.

Flexible, proactive and enthusiastic, you will have excellent communication and influencing skills, and be comfortable adapting confidently to a wide variety of social settings. 

About the Role

As Senior Stewardship and Events Manager, you will be leading on the creation of ambitious funding propositions which will be attractive to high value donors and funders, working with key stakeholders from across the organisation to fully understand our existing services and transformational projects; translating complex information into compelling cases for support to be used by our High Value Partnerships team in funding applications, pitches and proposals. You will work closely with Recovery Services, Data and Insights and Finance teams to ensure all relevant information is gathered and reporting and evaluation processes are in place.

Working with your team and the wider High Value Partnerships team you will develop a special events programme to support engagement and fundraising, as well as leading on the development of developing engaging and relevant donor and prospect communications. You will work alongside the High Value Events Officer and other High Value Partnerships Senior Managers to conceptualise, plan and deliver a range of event types, offering a variety of activities to engage and inspire high value supporters, and ensure they are connected to, and inspired by, the work of Help for Heroes.

You will support our relationship management teams across High Value Partnerships to embed and further develop the high value stewardship strategy to ensure those who support Help for Heroes at the highest levels enjoy an exceptional supporter experience.

Are you passionate about motivating and supporting people to take part in a wide range of fundraising events? Do you have a proven track record of engaging positively over time with donors throughout their journey alongside a charity? Are you a positive, skilled communicator with an eye for detail and an ability to get ‘stuck in’? If so, this role could be for you.

SUDEP Action is the only UK charity focused on preventing epilepsy-related deaths. We have the only epilepsy bereavement service freely available to anyone suddenly bereaved by epilepsy (including SUDEP). By representing the voices of those who have died and who are bereaved, we aim to learn from deaths, and use research, policy and campaigns to raise awareness and take action that helps save lives. 

Working both independently and with the wider team you will deliver a high-quality community fundraising service. We’re looking for someone who has worked in a fundraising department and/or similar role before, preferably in the charity sector. Engaging confidently with people and feeling comfortable in adapting your approach to different audiences is a key skill for this role - whether they are major donors, corporates or community fundraisers. This is particularly important as many of our supporters & fundraisers are bereaved.

Building positive supporter connections is at the heart of what we do at SUDEP Action, so setting a positive example of this through your plans and actions, and demonstrating the importance of maintaining strong, personalised supporter relationships is key. You’ll know how to follow processes to record, monitor and evaluate supporters’ engagement with community fundraising activities, so this feeds back into how the charity operates.

Much of the charity’s income comes from our motivated and passionate supporters, so this role is a key part of income generation. The successful candidate will be able to build on current processes and successes to grow our engagement across all fundraising activities, platforms and campaigns. Experience of bid/grant writing would be desirable.

Key Responsibilities

Recruitment & Retention

• Administer the recruitment process by placing job adverts into the template on Canva, removing expired job adverts from the THET website; downloading applications; setting up interviews
• Update staff induction materials
• Update the Organisational Organogram on a monthly basis
• Update staff profiles on the THET website
• Maintain internal HR email/In-box
• Ensure new starters are added to the relevant induction meetings and staff meetings

Development & Performance

• Provide induction and refresher training to staff and volunteers on international travel
• Monitor implementation of staff training and development plans

Policies and procedures

• Follow THET policies and procedures, flagging any issues arising
• Update control sheet for policy review dates and maintain version control numbers for policies and forms

Administration

• Provide administrative support to the CEO and SMT
• Update and maintain the Activ absence system: – Create user accounts for new staff/ archive leavers; monitor staff absences
• Administer travel arrangements within the UK and overseas for senior managers
• Oversee and improve standard operating procedures and forms
• Support the HR & Operations Manager with administration of new and current consultants, volunteers, and interns (recruitment, contract reviews, induction, and compliance training schedules)

Operational Support

• Coordinate the procurement process for items and services including approvals, advertising, tender process, preferred supplier contracts, communication to parties
• Undertake office management tasks including responding to THET mail/ calls; arranging and servicing office meetings; maintaining email distribution lists and email accounts
• Facilitate the purchasing of staff IT and other work equipment in line with budget
• Activate email accounts; coordinate laptops for new staff/leavers; open and close IT accounts for starters, and deactivate these for leavers
• Act as the main point of contact for the outsourced IT supplier.

Health and wellbeing

• Prompt Country Directors to ensure Country risk registers are up-to-date and evacuation/hibernation plans exist
