About the role
We are looking for a pro-active forward-thinking individual to join our team and lead the Smart Works centre in Reading. The role requires excellent organisational skills, the ability to work across a breadth of projects simultaneously and superb leadership skills.
Reporting directly to the Chair of Trustees for Smart Works Reading, the Centre Manager will have responsibility for the operational and day to day management of the centre.
In practice, the role will oversee the delivery and expansion of the Smart Works service to unemployed women living in Berkshire, whilst also working closely with the Chair to raise the money needed to fund the work of the charity.
Given the breadth of the role, it is essential that the role holder is able to prioritise, deliver against ambitious KPIs and delegate effectively.
The role would be based in the Reading centre, and there will be occasional evening and weekend work as the role holder will be expected to attend fundraising and partnerships events. We are looking for someone to start as quickly as possible.
Smart Works Reading is part of Smart Works Charity, and there will be some travel to London and liaison with the HQ team, as well as participation in regular meetings, phone calls and conferences with other Smart Works centres across the UK.
Duties and responsibilities
- Oversee the delivery of the Smart Works service in Reading and Berkshire, ensuring there is:
- An active programme of outreach to referral partners
- A highly engaged volunteer community
- A beautifully presented, well-stocked wardrobe
- Ensure all fundraising events, notably fashion sales and our annual cycling challenge, are well planned and meet target.
- Building excellent relationships with corporate and community partners, thereby generating awareness and income for the centre.
- Where needed, provide insight and support with grant applications and relevant reporting.
- Manage, nurture and motivate a close-knit staff team who are clear on their responsibilities and have the support they need to thrive in their roles.
- Monitor progress against service delivery and financial KPIs, motivating the team to work towards these and proactively addressing any shortfall.
- Support the creation of a national Smart Works brand, by ensuring Smart Works Reading generate content reflective of the Smart Works brand guidelines and values.
- Act as Safeguarding Officer for Smart Works Reading, and ensure all training, policies and procedures are followed.
- Act as an ambassador for Smart Works Reading, building strong relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
Personal Specification
- Passionately committed to making the Smart Works service in Reading grow and be the best that it can be. Experience working within employability support is desirable but not essential.
- Demonstrable experience managing projects, driving innovation and meeting targets. Experience fundraising and organising events is desirable but not essential.
- Proven ability to proactively manage relationships across varying levels of seniority and sectors.
- Experience of external partnership working is desirable but not essential.
- Demonstrable experience writing reports and strategic plans, with ability to provide commentary on performance against financial and other KPIs.
- Invested in developing others and supporting them to thrive in their role.

Role Overview
As Family Centre Manager you will play a vital role in the leadership of our church and charity’s community ministry to local children aged 0-11 and their families. Based out of our dedicated family centre, you will be responsible for leading a committed team of staff and volunteers to deliver a holistic programme of support and activities that meets local needs and reflects our Christian values and mission.
You will co-ordinate the day-to-day delivery of the centre’s activities and services, ensuring that delivery is responsive to the views and needs of local parents, carers and children while meeting the contractual requirements of our funders, and ensuring that staff and volunteers are working effectively to support positive outcomes for children and families.
Working with the Fern Street Steering Group, you will also help maintain the centre’s long-term sustainability, this will include maintaining existing partnerships, oversee fundraising efforts and ensuring that adequate resources (people, finances, in-kind) are available to support current and future areas of activity. This will also involve maintaining and developing strong engagement of the congregation and wider staff team of All Hallows Bow church in the ministry of the centre.
You will also take responsibility for overseeing Fern Street Family Centre’s spiritual life and mission - by nurturing a healthy team culture of prayer and mutual support and ensuring that our Christian values and mission are embedded throughout our work.
This is a diverse role that shapes around the passions and skills of the right candidate and offers plenty of opportunities for hands-on involvement with children and families alongside the role’s core leadership and management responsibilities.

About you
You will be a friendly and capable leader with experience of delivering quality programmes of learning, play and/or support for children and families. You will have experience of managing projects and people to achieve key project outcomes on time and to budget.A degree or significant experience in social work, community development, mental health, education, youth work, child development or similar field is desirable.

MapAction has developed an exciting new strategy to make humanitarian response and disaster preparedness more effective. We need a dynamic, proactive individual for the role of Team Coordinator to support our volunteers who play a central role in MapAction’s work.

Main Responsibilities
This role is pivotal to MapAction being operationally ready. The postholder is responsible for coordinating the recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing engagement of highly skilled, specialist volunteers (MapAction currently has approx 100 in the UK, but plans to grow this and have a more globally diverse pool of volunteers). ABOUT DEMOCRACY CLASSROOM
Democracy Classroom is a partnership between over 100 civil society organisations that supports young people to engage in elections, coordinated by The Politics Project. The network is in an exciting period of growth as we prepare to support educators and youth workers to help young people engage in the next UK General Election.
ABOUT THE ROLE
With a UK General Election due within the next 10 months, there are going to be more opportunities than ever for young people to better understand and participate in the democratic system.
The post holder will manage our ‘Exploring Elections’ programme which supports young people to register to vote in schools and colleges. The post holder will recruit and manage a network of freelance facilitators to deliver in-person voter registration workshops and events. This role will also include some delivery of in-person and online presentations and workshops to support young people to register to vote and to vote.
You will also work with the Director and Democracy Classroom Project Coordinator to support the delivery of training for teachers and youth practitioners so they can help their young people engage in the General Election and democracy.
The post holder will:
- Recruit, manage and support a group of freelance facilitators across the UK who will deliver voter registration activities.
- Deliver in-person and online workshops and assemblies for young people.
- Support the delivery of training for teachers and youth practitioners.
- Support the recruitment of teachers and schools to take part in voter registration activities.
- Manage and strengthen relationships with our network of teachers and youth practitioners.
- Line manage a Programme Coordinator who works on voter registration programmes and projects.
- Manage and keep up to date the database, producing reports when required.
- Assist with monitoring and evaluation.
- Complete administrative tasks for the projects and programmes you oversee.
The job is based on a fixed term 6 month contract (including a 3-month probation period), with opportunities for extension.
The Politics Project is based in London and the post holder will be expected to work from the office at least two days a week, as well as delivering in schools and colleges as required. The hours of work are 37.5 hrs per week. Occasional travel to elsewhere in the UK and working unsocial hours in evenings and at weekends may be required. This is a fast-paced role in a small but growing team.

It’s important for you to know that Scope Charity Shops are open every day, so some weekend and Bank Holiday cover is needed. We work 35 hours a week, working five days out of seven. Weekly hours for part-time vacancies are on a seven-day rota.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with stroke survivors and their families to provide Key Worker support following a stroke.
Position: S11121 Stroke Association Support Coordinator (x2 posts)
Location: Home-based, Cornwall however, extensive travel will be required as part of this role (May include team meetings or other work-related meetings)
Hours: Full and part-time (x1 – 35 hours per week post and x1 32 hour per week post)

About You
The Stroke Association Support Coordinator will:
· Support new stroke survivors and their carers from hospital discharge into the community.

You will be responsible for recruiting, inducting, and supervising a group of up to 20 volunteer multi-faith chaplains who help deliver regular weekly chaplaincy sessions in our supported accommodation projects. These are currently Gareth Stacey House and Lansworth House, as well as our Young Families Project in Gocher Court and Goldstone Villas. Chaplaincy sessions are usually run in the evenings and involve the preparation of a shared meal. You will, on occasion, also work one to one with some of our residents (aged 16-25 years). The role also has an important outreach function to develop relationships with Christian and other faith/belief communities across Brighton & Hove so that those communities can support and participate in our work, including fundraising. This may involve some weekend working, for which time off in lieu is provided.
This is a hybrid role with an expectation that the postholder will be present to attend chaplaincy sessions in our Brighton & Hove projects across the two days, including one to two evenings a week, but with some home working during the day. Exact working days to be discussed at interview.

Our team of 14 staff collaborates with schools, caregivers and mentors to establish additional protective factors in the lives of children aged 8-11. Founded in 2016, The Kids Network is a growing community of children and mentors, connecting through fun, friendship and hardship to reduce inequality.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Mentor management responsibilities
-
Utilise Salesforce, our CRM (customer relationship management) platform to deliver high quality mentor management for up to 55 pairs (mentors and mentees) including tracking and logging required communications.

Deliver regular support and periodic reviews for mentors, ensuring session regularity, and adherence to TKN policies and code of conduct.

Share responsibility for delivering in-person training sessions for mentors.

Share responsibility for delivering social events for groups of mentors and mentees.
-
Manage the online mentor community platform for your mentors, championing engagement, peer support, training attendance and use of resources.
Stakeholder management responsibilities

Build and manage relationships and communications with schools and other local referral partners.

Deliver termly meetings with lead school contacts, producing written reports demonstrating impact.

Hold small scale workshop activity with children at key points throughout the year to hear their voices, understand their needs, and measure programme impact.

Support communications between the caregivers and the mentors.

Develop and manage effective, strong relationships with key community stakeholders.
Programme management responsibilities

Deliver programme objectives, feeding into organisational quality standards and key performance indicators.

Collect and monitor outcomes, ensuring impact data is collected for wider organisational use from all children and mentors on your programme.
Safeguarding responsibility

Uphold a strong culture of safeguarding in your work, acting in compliance with our safeguarding policies and procedures at all times.

Contribute to TKN safer recruitment processes, attending internal mentor training events to vet prospective mentors.

Review and assess weekly delivery session reports from mentors, updating the safeguarding log as required.

Ensure every child participating in the programme experiences a positive ending in line with TKN positive ending guidance.
Other

Act as an ambassador for The Kids Network, building relationships with diverse audiences to communicate our work, supporting brand awareness and volunteer recruitment.

Contribute to organisational learning by keeping abreast of developments in the areas of: primary education, volunteer mentoring, early intervention.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential criteria
-
Experience effectively managing extended teams such as volunteers, freelancers or equivalent to provide engagement support to children.
-
Excellent IT skills with ability to use spreadsheets, emails and databases effectively.
-
Exceptional relationship building and communication skills, with the ability to communicate to a range of stakeholders such as children, school staff, freelance practitioners and community organisations.

Experience following internal and statutory safeguarding policies and processes.

Experience of recording, monitoring and reporting on data as a tool to strengthen an organisation’s ability to demonstrate programme impact.

Ability to be solution focused, self-motivating, and be accountable for your own work.
Desirable criteria:

Experience using CRM Salesforce.

Experience working with schools (KS2-3) or within Education.

Experience vetting volunteers through safer recruitment processes.

Rugby foodbank's Engagement Officer will oversee the smooth running and operation of the foodbank, with concern for its operational efficiency and standards in accordance with The Trussell Trust franchise model. In partnership with the Service Delivery Manager, guide the development of the foodbank project, including its material resources, financial assets, reputation, partnerships and volunteer body. The Engagement Officer will have a key role in the delivery and development of Rugby foodbank and the growth of its services. They will be responsible for building relationships with key stakeholders including volunteers, food and financial donors, partner referral agencies plus community and business groups. The right candidate will be an effective communicator who will work hard to create a positive environment for volunteers, clients, agencies and donors maximising opportunities for engagement.
At Hope4 we believe that everyone has the right to have a place to call ‘home’, somewhere that is safe, secure and sustainable, and enough food even when in a crisis. We also believe that everyone should have the chance to realise their hopes and ambitions. In order to achieve these aims we run the Hope Centre and Rugby foodbank which is part of the Trussell Trust network of foodbanks. Hope4 is the overarching charity name overseeing all operations of the Hope Centre and Rugby Foodbank.
As a charity, our clients are at the heart of what we do. Although Rugby is a small market town, in 2023 we supported over 190 people at our Day Centre and provided over 7500 foodbank food parcels. Our staff and volunteers are crucial to making this happen. We currently employ 8 members of staff and have 80+ people regular volunteers.
The charity was founded by the churches across the town and continues to hold to Christian principles working to address poverty, primarily homelessness and food poverty in the Borough of Rugby. The churches, as the Revive network, support the work we do both with funding and providing many of our volunteers. Our staff and volunteers support these values and ethos irrespective of belief or background.
We are looking for someone who can work as a flexible team member and with the ability to share and balance duties according to the needs and opportunities of the organisation. You will be an outgoing self-starter who is confident working on their own initiative as well as part of a wider team. Your key skill will be the ability to work with all types so people from every kind of background because you will be engaging with volunteers, clients, trustees and external agencies such as churches, schools and businesses. It will be varied and is pivotal in ensuring the smooth and successful day-to-day running of the foodbank.
