Ukrainian Refugees Project Intern
Unpaid internship, 2-3 days per week
All expenses reimbursed
We are looking for a bright, enthusiastic and committed volunteer to join our small dynamic team. This is an excellent opportunity for somebody wishing to gain key skills and experience in project management and UK charity sector. A significant part of the successful candidate’s duties will be providing support to our new project helping Ukrainian refugee women in London. Ideally, you will speak either Ukrainian or Russian and have good English.
About HealthProm
HealthProm is a UK-based international development charity which focuses on supporting the most vulnerable children and women in Eastern Europe, Central Asia and Afghanistan. We support them through strengthening families and communities, increasing access to health and social services, and promoting education for all. We work together with partners to learn and innovate. Our current projects are in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Afghanistan. In response to the war in Ukraine and large numbers of Ukrainian refugees arriving to the UK, we have recently we have started a new project supporting Ukrainian refugee women in London.
Key purpose of role –To support HealthProm team in delivering our new London-based project supporting Ukrainian refugee women in Camden and Islington.
Responsibilities
- Providing administrative project support to Project Coordinator;
- Supporting the development and delivery of project activities and events such as Coffee Mornings, ESOL classes, Job Club activities etc;
- Assisting with project monitoring and evaluation, e.g. collecting regular feedback from project’s beneficiaries and assisting with drafting project reports for HealthProm’s Board and funders;
- Translating project materials, reports and social media posts from Ukrainian/Russian into English
- Preparing regular project updates for HealthProm social media, newsletter and web-site
- Providing digital and communication support when required
- Assisting with the development of fundraising applications to ensure the sustainability of the project activities
Key skills
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
-Ability to work independently
-Good written and verbal communication skills (both English and Ukrainian/Russian)
-Strong working knowledge of social media -Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter
-Excellent IT skills (Microsoft packages, database software etc)
-Good inter-personal skills, able to work well within a small team

This is a varied role and an excellent opportunity for somebody wishing to gain key skills and experience in the charity sector/ international development. HealthProm is a UK based charity supporting vulnerable children, women, and families disadvantaged by poor health, disability, and social exclusion. We work in Eastern Europe, Central Asia and Afghanistan and with migrant communities from the region in the UK.
Key elements of the role:
- Carrying out research and reviews of existing international documents and research papers relevant to HealthProm international and UK work
- Providing administrative support to the Director of Operations, including organising Programme Development Working group meetings and HealthProm Forum events
-Contributing to the production of documents, working papers and publications resulting from the above activities, including drafting notes and preparing background research papers
- Carrying out background research for new projects
-Liaising and building networks with past, current and potential partners, researchers, other international and local organisations
-Contributing to the organisation of internal and external meetings and events, communication, planning and evaluation.
Applicants should have interest in international development research and policy, be highly organized and motivated, and be flexible enough to adapt to changing workstream priorities.
