About us
Who we are
ellipse art projects is an international non-profit dedicated to supporting the recognition, mobility and professional development of emerging artists from underrepresented regions of the world, particularly Africa and Southeast Asia.
We operate as a French endowment fund established in Paris in 2020 and we are now setting up a UK charity ellipse art projects UK, a Charitable Incorporated Organisation, to extend our mission through UK-based partnerships and programmes.
Since our creation we have delivered six editions of our annual international prize across Africa (Senegal, Ivory Coast, Togo, Benin, Ghana, Morocco), two editions of the +E mentoring programme with the Lyon Biennale for women artists from Southeast Asia, and multiple exhibitions in France and abroad supporting 83 original artworks and generating more than 200 international press features
Our culture and values
ellipse art projects supports emerging artists through four main types of activity:
- Residencies and production: bespoke residencies in France, UK, and abroad, production grants and dedicated mentoring frameworks.
- Exhibitions and public programmes: solo and group exhibitions, participation in major art fairs and biennales, publications and catalogues.
- Open calls and programmes: the annual ellipse prize dedicated to a different scene each year (Senegal, Ivory Coast, Togo, Benin, Ghana, Morocco) and the +E mentoring programme for women artists from Southeast Asia.
- Institutional partnerships: long-term collaborations with cultural institutions, foundations, institutions, biennales in France, Africa, Southeast Asia, and from 2027 the United Kingdom.
