About us
Who we are
We are Luminary Women - a women-led charity offering a bold, innovative response to the needs of women in London who face multiple disadvantage including gender-based violence.
Luminary Women’s Vision
A world where every woman is safe, independent, financially secure and able to thrive.
Our Mission
Luminary Women works alongside women who have experienced multiple forms of disadvantage, including gender‑based violence. We offer a holistic programme combining training, dedicated support work, community building and employment pathways. We use a trauma-informed approach to help women achieve empowerment, employment and independence - breaking the cycle of poverty, violence and disadvantage.
Our culture and values
Hope
Hope is at the heart of Luminary Women. We believe in every woman’s potential - even when she may not yet see it - and in the possibility of lasting change. Through long-term progression support, skills training, community and pathways to employment, we journey alongside women as they move beyond survival toward lives of stability, independence, and belief in their purpose and worth.
Collaboration
Women’s voices are at the core of our work, with alumni shaping our programme and future direction. Collaboration shapes every aspect of our work, from how our teams work together to deliver support that is consistent and responsive, to working alongside women - not for them - to co-create goals and solutions grounded in their lived experience. Our partnerships with community organisations, mentors and employers extend this collaborative approach.
Empathy
We recognise the complexity of women’s lives and the impact of trauma. Our trauma-informed approach is grounded in empathy, respect and trust - meeting women where they are, listening without judgement and responding to the practical and emotional challenges they face, including housing insecurity, debt and recovery from trauma.
Empowerment
At Luminary Women, empowerment means journeying alongside women to reclaim choice, confidence and control over their lives. Through skills training, employment pathways, mentoring and dedicated progression support, women build agency and independence, access meaningful work, and define success on their own terms.
