About us
Who we are
MHF is a small, multi-award winning, family-centred charity that's changing lives and giving real hope to vulnerable children, young people and adults (8-35yrs) in the UK living with Muscular Dystrophy (MD). Operating now over 23yrs (as of March 2026), we continue to work tirelessly to help those for whom we exist to support.
MHF delivers transformational, life-changing experiences called Muscle Dreams. Fundamentally, your support will helps us do more! Muscle Dreams offer a purposeful, transformative platform that builds self-esteem, uplifts confidence, reduces isolation and fundamentally, brings beneficiaries and families together.
MD is a relentless and unforgiving condition. It robs sufferers of their independence and finally for those with the most severe form (Duchenne), their lives. With extremely limited resources, our vulnerable community tell us that we pack a big punch! As a result, our academically validated impact speaks volumes as to the difference we make in giving real hope to some of societies most vulnerable people.
2026/27 is a pivotal time for the Muscle Help Foundation (MHF) charity as it not only moves into its 23rd year of operation but during this period, we will also realise the original mission set way back in March 2003. Exciting times ahead! As part of our ongoing recruitment strategy, MHF is actively seeking new trustees to join its Board.
What are we looking for?
MHF is looking for trustees who first and foremost believe in the charity's mission. If you're able to help take the charity forward, help grow impact, perhaps leave a personal legacy and feel that sense of personal fulfilment from the time you join us, then let's have a conversation.
This is an exciting opportunity to bring your unique self, talents, skills, energy and passion for a cause you deeply care about. Being a trustee requires more than just an understanding of the role – it’s about ensuring good governance and compliance, both are of course essential, but there’s more to the role.
We have a number of exciting opportunities and look forward to welcoming applications in partnership with CharityJob.
Before applying, we would encouarge you to visit the Charity Commission's website to find out more about the Muscle Help Foundation - our official Charity Registration Number is 1096716. We would also urge you to visit the charity's website to learn more about our work and impact.

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
- One of the charity's greatest strengths as a board and as a small family-centred charity is in our community’s diversity.
- We are interested in hearing from all applicants with diverse skills and experiences that ideally reflect the diversity of our beneficiaries but this is not essential.
- We respect and value difference.
- Whilst we are looking for individuals with previous experience of being a trustee, we welcome applications from first time trustees.
