About us
Who we are
Neighbourhood Watch Network is one of the UK's most recognised community movements and the largest crime prevention charity in England and Wales, supporting a network of millions of members, volunteers and supporters who are committed to creating safer, stronger and more connected communities.
Our vision is simple but ambitious: a society where neighbours come together to create safer, stronger and more active communities.
We believe that thriving communities are built when people feel connected, supported and empowered to make a positive difference where they live. While crime prevention remains at the heart of our work, today's Neighbourhood Watch is about much more than watching out for crime. We help people build trust, tackle loneliness and isolation, improve community wellbeing, and create places where everyone feels they belong.
Our culture and values
Our new 2026–2030 strategy sets out a bold vision for the future. Developed through one of the largest consultations in our history, involving more than 11,000 stakeholders, volunteers, partners and community members, it reflects the changing needs of communities across England and Wales.
The strategy is built around three interconnected pillars:
Neighbourhood Watch – providing trusted information, resources and crime prevention initiatives that help people stay safe and resilient.
Neighbourhood Connect – bringing neighbours together, reducing loneliness and strengthening community relationships through inclusive programmes and local action.
Neighbourhood Act – empowering people to improve their local areas through volunteering, practical community projects and collective action.
Together, these pillars support our mission to help individuals and communities be connected, active and safe.
A Modern and Innovative Charity
Neighbourhood Watch Network is evolving to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing world.
Alongside our community safety work, we are investing in:
- Digital engagement and modern communications
- Storytelling and impact measurement
- Cybercrime awareness and prevention through Cyberhood Watch
- Flexible volunteering opportunities
- Community campaigns and advocacy
- Strategic partnerships across policing, local government, housing, health and the voluntary sector
- Digital platforms, knowledge sharing and volunteer support
We are committed to becoming a more innovative, evidence-led and digitally connected organisation that can reach and support diverse communities across England and Wales.

Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
Ensuring the safety and security of all people across England and Wales are at the heart of Neighbourhood Watch.
We support a society where everyone feels safe where they live and work, and in public spaces. We want everyone to be treated fairly, taking account of their individual needs. We want to see everyone free from discrimination because of race, religion and belief, disability, sex, sexual orientation, age, pregnancy, marriage and civil partnership, or gender reassignment.
We promote a culture of respect and dignity and do not tolerate unfair discrimination in any form within our diverse movement. We actively challenge unfairness, intolerance and harassment.
We are guided by our values. We know that being a diverse movement and ensuring our activity and communications are accessible, inclusive, and relevant will help us make a difference for all our communities and individuals.
We want to attract, develop and retain volunteers of all ages and backgrounds. We want to reach supporters from a broader section of the community and engage with and represent diverse individuals and groups.
We will learn from different perspectives and experiences and remove barriers to inclusion. We will do this through recruitment, training, development, and support for our staff, volunteers, and trustees. We will demonstrate the principles of diversity, equality, inclusion, and compliance with the Equality Act 2010 in our roles, policies, and functions
