About us
Who we are
For more than 900 years, Norwich Cathedral’s spire has risen high above the city’s skyline and its ancient architecture echoes with stories.
From its beginnings as a Benedictine monastery to its role as a modern-day cathedral, there is so much to explore. Whether you’re visiting for the first time or regularly pop into the Cathedral, there’s always something new to discover.
Our culture and values
Worship. Prayer is the heartbeat of our life together. As a Christian presence at the heart of Norfolk, we keep the daily rhythm of worship that has shaped this place since our Benedictine beginnings.
Learning. We are a home of education, music, art and science. We share what we know and learn from others, whether they are schoolchildren, pilgrims, scholars or neighbours, and we create spaces for open, respectful exchange of ideas.
Hospitality. All are welcome here. We welcome with our hands, our minds and our hearts.
Service. We use our strengths and partnerships to serve the common good across Norwich, Norfolk and Waveney. We stand for safety and sanctuary, and we work to challenge social and environmental injustice.
Spiritual growth. We are a place to grow in holiness. We seek to be prayerful, pastoral and prophetic, and to help everyone who comes through our doors discover something of the beauty and love of God.
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
The Cathedral values and actively strives to have a diverse and inclusive workforce in a working environment free from discrimination.
