Norwich, Norfolk (On-site)
£60,000 per year (for 30 hours per week)
Part-time (30 hours per week - days/times to be agreed)
Permanent
Job description

Norwich Cathedral is one of England’s great churches. Founded in 1096 as the mother church of the Diocese of Norwich, it is set in a 36-acre Close for which it is also responsible. Working closely with the Dean and other senior leaders, the Chief Operating Officer plays a vital role in caring for, stewarding and developing this remarkable inheritance.

The Chief Operating Officer will play a crucial role in delivering and leading the implementation of the Cathedral’s strategic vision, aims and priorities, while also ensuring that the day-to-day operations of the Cathedral are undertaken efficiently and effectively. Working collaboratively, they will support and enable team members to develop, and ensure that the Cathedral’s ‘back-office’ infrastructure provides the foundation needed for future growth and development.

Whilst there is much to celebrate and value in terms of the Cathedral’s wider role there are still many opportunities for further development. These include continuing to deepen partnerships across the city, county and diocese; broadening the Cathedral’s community engagement and reach; growing the congregations; delivering the estate masterplan; and expanding income generation to ensure the Cathedral’s long-term financial sustainability. All these will be among the key tasks for the next five years.

We are looking for candidates who will bring a mixture of enthusiasm, relevant experience and a commitment to the ethos and purpose of the Cathedral, to join us at this exciting time.
