Sir Martin Gilbert Learning Centre

Who we are

We work to increase knowledge of Jewish life, history, and culture in order to tackle antisemitism and nuance public understanding. We want schoolchildren to learn not only about Jewish persecution but, perhaps more importantly, about who Jews are and how they have contributed to society. We deliver free workshops to secondary school students around the UK on topics linked to the National Curriculum.

Our culture and values

The Sir Martin Gilbert Learning Centre was founded by Sir Harry Solomon and Lady Esther Gilbert in memory of the renowned historian Sir Martin Gilbert. Sir Martin aimed to make history engaging and accessible for all, a principle that underpins the Centre’s work. Our work is created and delivered by scholars and uses primary sources to encourage students to engage meaningfully with the past.
