About us
Who we are
We support teachers to help their students grow as ethical and conscientious decision-makers and problem solvers. Our work is rooted in a pedagogy that nurtures knowledge development, empathetic engagement and critical thinking, helping students to better understand the world and their role in it.
For over twenty years we have equipped teachers to develop the next generation of upstanders – pupils with the civic agency and awareness to lean into some of the most contentious and sensitive topics of the day. Founded in 2004, the charity operated as Facing History & Ourselves UK until our rebrand in 2026. Now, Teach for Tomorrow is a partner of Facing History & Ourselves Inc. in the United States, and continues to build our work using the rigorously evaluated pedagogical approach. Over 13,000 UK educators have engaged with us since 2004, and over 10,000 of these have connected with us in the last six years. Our work is needed.
Our culture and values
We believe in the power and potential of educators to inspire and transform the lives of young people by unlocking new levels of understanding, awareness and community mindedness so they are equipped to create a better future for everyone.
Whether polarised views, identity-based hatred or the undermining of democracy, extremist content is reaching young people at unprecedented speed. However, nearly two-thirds of teachers admit they side-step challenging classroom discussions because they lack the confidence and tools to handle them sensitively. Our training upskills teachers to encourage and develop the next generation’s capacity for respectful, informed dialogue. Being in a Teach for Tomorrow classroom empowers young people to engage in these challenging conversations and in doing so practise the habits that sustain a healthy democracy: critical thinking, empathy and informed action.
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
Teach for Tomorrow is committed to the principle of equal opportunity in employment. We will actively support diversity and inclusion and ensure that all our employees are valued and treated with dignity and respect. We want to encourage everyone in our business to reach their potential.
Teach for Tomorrow will ensure that recruitment, selection, training, development and promotion procedures result in no job applicant, employee, or worker receiving less favourable treatment because of a protected characteristic within the Equality Act 2010 which are race, including colour, nationality, ethnic or national origin and caste; religion or belief; disability; sex; sexual orientation; pregnancy or maternity; gender reassignment; marriage or civil partnership; and age. In accordance with our overarching equal treatment ethos, we will also ensure that no one is treated less favourably on account of their trade union membership or non-membership, or on the basis of being a part-time worker or fixed-term employee. Teach for Tomorrow's objective is to ensure that individuals are selected, promoted, and otherwise treated solely on the basis of their relevant aptitudes, skills and abilities.
