Who we are

From humble beginnings in the City of London in 1844, the YMCA has grown to become a worldwide organisation with 45 million members in 125 countries. 

YMCA operates as a federation that works to support young people in their communities. YMCA’s share a common goal to create supportive, inclusive and energising communities where young people can truly belong, contribute and thrive. Each YMCA now operates on a local scale, delivering services that meet the needs of their local community, in keeping with the wider organisation’s values and aims. At YMCA Fairthorne Group, we are proud to be affiliated with the wider YMCA movement – the world’s largest and longest-running youth charity. 

Our culture and values

We provide 160 safe spaces – including a 10-bed mother & baby unit – for young people facing homelessness, offering life skills, mental health support, and a fresh start.

Community that Cares

We bring people together through our Community Centres, welcoming groups of all ages to learn, support each other, and grow together, to reduce loneliness and social isolation in meaningful ways.

Meals that Matter

Delivering food parcels from YMCA Andover and hosting community pantries across the region, we ensure families don’t go hungry.  

Adventure for All

On site, we turn off screens and turn up the adventure. Through groups, childcare and holiday clubs, we help children build confidence, curiosity, and resilience, with inclusive equipment and funded schemes.

Play Learn Thrive

We give children the very best start in life through our early years nurseries and build confidence and resilience in youth clubs, children develop social, emotional and practical skills.

The Young Carers Festival

The Young Carers Festival, held each June, provides over 1000 young carers with an impactful weekend of respite from their caring responsibilities – a chance to have their voices heard and enjoy being children.
