Respected is a growing, values‑driven charity delivering high‑quality, holistic Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) to pupils in Years 7–11. We equip young people with the knowledge, confidence, and values they need to build respectful, healthy relationships and make informed decisions.

We are now seeking a dynamic, hands‑on Chief Executive Officer to lead our next chapter of growth and impact.

As CEO, you will provide strategic leadership, operational oversight and inspirational management to our small staff team and dedicated volunteers. You will work closely with the Board of Trustees to deliver our mission, strengthen our partnerships with schools and ensure the charity operates with excellence, integrity, and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities
● Lead the development and delivery of Respected’s strategic and operational plans
● Ensure that Respected is informed by research, guidance, legislation and is compliant with statutory requirements in the area of relationships and sex education in schools

About You
We’re looking for someone who is:
● An experienced leader in the charity sector with a background and qualifications in education, health or youth sector

● Knowledgeable and impactful leading RSE and/or sexual health education for young people in a youth‑focused context.
● Comfortable working independently and flexibly within a small team
● Experienced in working in or with schools
● Comfortable balancing the requirement to work within statutory national guidance with inspiring our staff and Trustees to uphold the underlying Christian motivation and driving force for all that we do at Respected in accordance with our Ethos statement.

The post holder will be required to source and purchase suitable properties to add to the portfolio and to sell properties no longer required within the aspirations of the business plan and yearly budgets. You'll work closely with Housing Officers and colleagues across the organisation to help ensure suitable housing is available for clergy as they approach retirement, supporting a seamless and well-planned transition.

SCM is looking for a recent graduate to spend a year working with us to help us to continue to build on the work of our successful Faith in Action project. 

Run in partnership with Project Bonhoeffer, a small charitable trust, the project began in 2012 with a vision that Christian students in Britain would have a greater awareness and understanding of Bonhoeffer’s radical approach to faith and discipleship, and its implications for Christian living in the modern world. 

The project has helped to run over a dozen campaigns from Food Poverty to Peace, and had an immeasurable impact on thousands of students through blogs, resources, and relationships. All of this is bringing to light many ‘Bonhoeffers’ of today negotiating the implications on Christian living in the world.

In 2021, we began developing the Faith in Action project as a graduate scheme, employing two graduates a year to work on the project; one to lead on theology bringing a depth of learning and theological refection, and the other to be a campaigns lead, taking us always back out into the world to make a difference. Now moving forward as a combined theology and community organising role, the Faith in Action Project Worker will equip our members, and students beyond SCM, to become theologians and campaigners, putting their faith into action to change the world.

We are looking for a passionate graduate to join the project for the 2026-27 academic year.

In this role, you will be a theologian to make other theologians, and will provide the framework for students to be able to reflect theologically on their life and modern Christian living. You will be responsible for growing the breadth of SCM’s Faith in Action resources, and discovering new ways of connecting with the current membership via the trends of social media or engaging in face-to-face reflections. An activist to make other activists, you will coordinate social action for SCM, engaging the membership in social justice projects that maximise our impact in society and the world.

You will work to build relationships between SCM communities and members to equip students with the skills they need to become faith-filled agents of social and political change and lead them in theological reflection to discern their involvement in local and national campaigns. You will also work to develop relationships with other Christian social justice and campaigning organisations to create opportunities for students to put their faith into action. In all of this, you will be supported by our small but perfectly-formed team, who will share your values and fully understand your aims in this project.

The role will require some travel within Britain, as well as semi-regular visits to the office in Birmingham, which may also include an overnight stay. All reasonable expenses for travel and accommodation will be reimbursed. Some evening and weekend work may be required for which time off in lieu will be given.

About the Role

This role involves preparing and maintaining an effective people strategy that exemplifies good HR practice in line with corporate business strategy and mission. As Welcome Team Leader you will work as part of the Engagement team, leading a team of Welcome Hosts to provide a warm welcome and overall excellent visitor experience at Southwark Cathedral. Acting as a central point of contact, you will lead, support and develop the Welcome Team to deliver a friendly and engaging visit and ensure a high standard of customer service. You will work closely with the Head of Engagement to support the development of the Welcome Team through training and support, organise rotas and ensure adequate cover of all positions, and support the overall goal to increase visitor numbers, donations and visitor engagement.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Act as main point of contact with Welcome Team acting for daily visitor engagement operations, liaising with other onsite teams, including Vergers, Retail, Property and Enterprise;
• Line manage the paid Welcome Team, ensuring a high standard of welcome and visitor service is provided;
• Carry out regular walk rounds of the site to support Welcome Team members, collaborate and provide feedback and ensure standards are consistently met;
• Cover Welcome Team positions as an when required, providing a welcoming, friendly and engaging visitor experience to all visitors to the Cathedral;

• Encourage visitors to donate to the Cathedral through the various platforms available in the Cathedral and online and to encourage those making a donation to Gift Aid it should they be eligible to do so;
• Direct visitors to the Cathedral Shop and Café encouraging secondary spend;
• Promote the sale of information products such as the Visitor Map and Guidebook;

About the role

Reporting in to the Individual Giving Lead, the Senior Individual Giving Acquisition Officer will drive the strategy and execution of Christian Aid’s individual giving acquisition efforts, ensuring high impact campaigns like Christian Aid Week, Christmas and Emergency Appeals effectively attract new supporters. Through compelling messaging and innovative approaches, foster long-term, sustainable relationships,
optimising channels, products, and engagement strategies to maximise supporter growth.

The post-holder will lead on Regular Giving acquisition recruitment across multiple channels to grow lifetime giving and increasing the Christian Aid supporter base. They will be leading a team of two Individual Giving Acquisition Officers and collaborating with senior leadership, manage budgets, forecast the performance of campaigns and ensure cost-effective delivery, all while championing the ‘Believe in the Possible’ proposition to inspire and engage the next generation of supporters.

About the role

Reporting in to the Church Engagement & Fundraising Advisor, the Church Engagement & Fundraising Officer will empower people and amplifying change by proactively identifying opportunities to inspire and equip a defined set of churches, groups, specialist volunteers,
and individuals.

The post-holder will foster relationships built on trust and openness, collaborating both across and outside the organisation to drive meaningful impact in fundraising and campaigning activities.

Some of the main areas of responsibilities of the Church Engagement & Fundraising Officer include:

• Develop and manage Christian Aid’s relationships with a defined group of key churches and Christian Aid groups through face-to-face and online engagement.
• Maximise the involvement of churches and groups as agents of change in alignment with Christian Aid’s values and goals.
• Proactively identify and engage churches that have not previously supported Christian Aid, building and maintaining a pipeline of prospective churches to Give, Act, and Pray.
• Build and nurture meaningful existing relationships with churches and groups to ensure alignment with Christian Aid’s values and goals.
• Actively promote Christian Aid’s presence and profile by delivering impactful contributions, such as speaking at events, attending festivals, participating in meetings, and utilising communication channels.
• Adapt engagement based on the insights gained from stakeholders to consistently achieve departmental and team targets.
• Supervise and support volunteers, ensuring they are effectively developed and equipped to fulfil Christian Aid’s objectives.
• Monitor and maintain accurate records of all activities involving supporters and volunteers, utilising the CRM supporter database.
• Use collected data and insights to inform priorities and drive continuous improvement in processes and outcomes.
• Consistently deliver high-impact outputs, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and striving to maximise the impact of Christian Aid’s work.

About you

• Demonstrable experience and knowledge of church audiences across all denominations.
• Experience of mentoring volunteers to add capacity, skills and aptitude to empower and support them.
• Detailed knowledge of the principles of good donor management or customer care, and understanding of the principles of relationship building.
• Developed communication skills to inspire others to take action and use their skills and resources to fundraise and donate.
• Developed communication skills to communicate complex messages creatively and effectively to diverse audiences.
• An ability to analyse and interpret information and data to prioritise work and achieve results.
• Organisational skills to work under pressure and manage competing priorities to deliver multiple concurrent activities.
• The ability to travel frequently to locations, including some evenings and weekends.

Desirable:

• Knowledge of current fundraising legislation and good practice.
• Knowledge of relevant church networks and denominational structures.
• Ability to effectively portray development messages in a theological context.
• Knowledge of global development issues and Christian Aid’s work.
• Good knowledge of the London and South East geographical region.
