Head of FP&A | Permanent | £63,000 - £67,000 | London | Hybrid

For a well-known charity in central London, we're recruiting a permanent FP&A Lead to join a high-performing finance team. This role will design and deliver accurate and timely financial information, supporting the decision-making process for stakeholders. The role will manage a Finance Business Partner and Systems Analyst and will lead on ensuring the financial systems and processes and fit for purpose, whilst collaborating across the organisation to build financial capacity. Finally, the FP&A Lead will integrate financial planning and drive improvements to enhance decision-making and long-term sustainability.

Main Duties:

• Lead annual budgeting and reforecasting - working with department to set KPIs and provide decision-making analysis
• Build the framework for collecting and communicating the organisational budget and forecast
• Develop and deliver regular financial MI to stakeholders
• Develop first-class financial analysis across income and expenditure, project and fund accounting, and cashflow
• Champion continual improvement in financial management across the organisation
• Lead the production of key financial reporting and analysis
• Lead engagement with all stakeholders, needing FP&A meets needs and good practice
• Manage restricted fund accounting, ensuring financial reporting enables robust grant applications and reporting

• Leadership Track Record: Experience leading multi-function teams with a focus on capability building and performance management.
• Technical Proficiency: Deep understanding of internal controls, technical accounting, and large-scale budgeting processes.
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written skills, with the ability to present decision-ready papers to Board committees.
• Occupational Requirement: Given the leadership nature of this role and its responsibility for the spiritual nurturing of staff, there is an occupational requirement for the post holder to have an active Christian faith.

Desired Skills:

We are looking for an experienced, qualified accountant to lead the DEC’s finance function, ensuring accurate day-to-day accounting and robust financial controls, and delivering high-quality management and statutory reporting. The Head of Finance oversees budgeting and forecasting across the Secretariat, leads the annual audit and year-end accounts production, and provides clear financial insight to budget-holders and senior stakeholders. 

During the DEC public appeals, the role plays a critical part in processing and reconciling high-volume donation income at pace, maintaining strong controls across multiple channels, and supporting timely reporting and allocation of funds to members. 

Key Responsibilities

• Financial Leadership: Oversee the accounting function, including management accounts, budgets, and the annual audit.
• Appeal Management: During emergency appeals, ensure the accurate daily processing of high-volume income and produce critical "FinSit" reports.

Who You Are
