About us

Who we are

Age UK Wiltshire are a local independent charity working in the community to support older people, their families, and carers - something we’ve been doing for over 75 years. We are here to inspire, support and enable older people, helping them stay safe, make informed choices and be independent yet connected. We promote the wellbeing of all older people and work to make later life a fulfilling and enjoyable experience. Let’s change how we age across Wiltshire and Swindon!

We recognise that every person is an individual with different needs, preferences and abilities. We aim to reflect this diversity in everything we do including making our services inclusive and accessible to older people from all sections of the community and by attracting and retaining a diverse workforce of both staff and volunteers.

We choose to be a partner of the national charity, Age UK, however we are responsible for our own funding and set our own priorities. Our charity is overseen by a board of trustees who themselves are volunteers from the local community, bringing their career and life experiences to Age UK Wiltshire. Our services are provided by a small team of paid employees who are supported by around 250 wonderful volunteers, without whom we would be unable to deliver much of what we do.

Our culture and values

We are committed to fostering an inclusive, respectful, and high-performing workplace. Our values guide how we work with each other, out clients, and our wider community. Our values, Person Centred, Trusted, Empowering, and Ambitious, guide how we work with each other, our clients, and our wider community.

Person Centered - we are holistic, caring, and compassionate.

Trusted - We are proffessional, reliable, and honest

Empowering - We nurture independence and ownership

Ambitious - We strive for the best for our people, clients, and organisation

All staff and volunteers are responsible for upholding our commitment and living our values in their day-to-day work. Managers have a particular responsibility to model these behaviours, support their teams, and address any conduct that falls short.

Equality, diversity and inclusion policy

Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion underpins all our values.

Actively promote equality and challenge discrimination, prejudice, or exclusion.

Respect and value diversity of thought, background, culture, and identity.

Consider accessibility and inclusivity in all aspects of work.

Reflect on their own behaviours and biases and take steps to address them.

Contribute to creating a workplace where everyone feels safe, valued, and able to thrive.
