About us

Who we are

North West First Responder Group is a volunteer-led independent charity that supports. communities in the North West.

Some of our local volunteers are trained, equipped and mobilised by North West Ambulance Service to deliver life-saving care in their local communities. They respond to 999 emergencies, provide vital early treatment, prior to an ambulance arriving.

As a charity we are committed to supporting communities through CPR & defibrillator awareness sessions, Community Public Access Defibrillator projects, and other health initiatives.

Our culture and values

North West First Responder Group is a volunteer-led charity built around teamwork, professionalism and a shared commitment to supporting our communities.

Our culture is centred on people first. We value and respect the contribution of every volunteer, recognising that people give their time alongside work, family and other commitments. We aim to provide a supportive, inclusive environment where volunteers feel valued, listened to and able to develop.

Our core values include compassion, integrity, professionalism, collaboration and continuous improvement. We encourage open communication, shared learning and constructive challenge, creating a culture where people can raise concerns, contribute ideas and learn from both successes and mistakes.

We work collaboratively with our partners, local communities and other organisations rather than in isolation. We believe strong relationships and shared expertise allow us to achieve a greater impact.

Above all, we are committed to making a positive difference. Whether supporting Community First Responders, providing education, installing community defibrillators or delivering other charitable activities, we expect our work to be carried out safely, responsibly and with the communities we serve at the heart of our decisions.

Equality, diversity and inclusion policy

North West First Responder Group is committed to creating an inclusive, respectful and welcoming environment where everyone is treated fairly, with dignity and without discrimination.

We promote equality of opportunity throughout recruitment, volunteering, training, development and progression. Decisions are based on an individual’s skills, experience, suitability and ability to undertake the role, and we do not tolerate discrimination, harassment, bullying or victimisation.

We are committed to ensuring that no person is treated less favourably because of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy or maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation, or any other characteristic protected under the Equality Act 2010.

We recognise that equality does not always mean treating everyone identically. Where appropriate, we will consider reasonable adjustments and additional support to remove barriers and enable people to participate fully in our organisation.

All volunteers and those representing the charity are expected to uphold these principles, challenge inappropriate behaviour and contribute to a culture where differences are respected and everyone feels able to contribute.
