About us

Who we are

Suffolk Wildlife Trust is the county’s nature charity. We cherish the wildlife & wild places that Suffolk has now, and in the context of a global nature and climate crisis, we are increasingly campaigning & investing our time, resources & energy in bringing back what’s been lost.

We are determined to turn around the fortunes of nature and Suffolk Wildlife Trust has a long term vision for our county of “a wilder Suffolk, where nature is thriving and abundant, because everyone is united in valuing nature and doing more to help". The ‘doing more’ makes clear the role of people in effecting change - and this is what we, as a local charity, can do brilliantly. We can reach into every community, every business, every home to champion action for nature & climate.

Planet Earth’s clock is ticking & science tells us we need to have made significant change by 2030. So, Suffolk Wildlife Trust’s Strategy to 2030 is all about putting nature on a path to recovery at the scale & pace that is needed.

Everyone of us has a role to play in mobilising our county to Bring Nature Back to Suffolk - it is our collective mission and strategic goals to 2030.

Our culture and values

Our Beliefs Anchor Us
Everything Suffolk Wildlife Trust does, and how we do it, is anchored in our fundamental belief in the natural world. We believe:

- Nature has value in its own right
- We all share a responsibility for nature
- Society thrives when nature thrives

Our Values Guide Us
Our values guide how we operate and the decisions we make, to achieve more for nature:

Tenacity: We lead by example and will be gutsy in our ambition for nature and how we use our voice.
Inclusion: We value and respect diverse voices and thinking to advocate and act for nature.
Pragmatism: We are impact-led in the methods, solutions and partnerships we choose, to drive nature’s recovery.

Our Culture Empower Us
Our culture is how we all work together, to empower each other, and our county, to achieve more for nature:

Nature-led: We are driven by our shared passion for nature and support each other to be the best we can.
Collaborative: We communicate & collaborate brilliantly to amplify our impact and celebrate each other’s  achievements.
Trusting: Our staff and volunteers are trusted, and with this accountable, to deliver our ambition for nature.
Reflective: We are evidence-led and challenge ourselves to embrace new ideas and learn from experience.
Safe: We always work safely and responsibly.

Equality, diversity and inclusion policy

We are committed to being an inclusive organisation where everyone is welcome. As a conservation charity, we recognise the value of diversity both in nature and in our staff & volunteers. Suffolk Wildlife Trust is an organisation where everyone feels respected, valued & empowered to contribute, so that together we can deliver our vision, mission & strategic goals for a wilder Suffolk.
