About us
Who we are
Nearly 26 million people in sub-Saharan Africa are infected with HIV. The impact AIDS has on some of the world's poorest children is immeasurable.
The AIDS epidemic has illustrated the immense resilience of people across Africa, their ability to find a way forward often led by individuals with integrity, inspiration and unshakeable determination.
Egmont finds these inspirational people and organisations and provides them with funding to scale up their dearly needed activities. Since 2005, The Egmont Trust has committed over £11.5 million to 115 partner organisations in Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
We believe that the people most affected by AIDS in Africa are best at understanding, planning and implementing projects to alleviate the impact that the epidemic has on children and their families. By directing small scale aid to grassroots projects, we have been able to achieve sustained improvements in children’s nutrition, education, family income and HIV care and treatment.
