About us
Who we are
The Pankhurst Trust brings together Manchester Women’s Aid and the Pankhurst Centre. We work together to ensure the powerful story of the women who won the vote continues to inspire us all to challenge gender inequality, and to ensure that those suffering from domestic violence and abuse get the confidential help they need.
Our culture and values
At The Pankhurst Trust, we believe that how we work is just as important as what we do.
Our work is grounded in feminist values and a trauma-informed approach. We are committed to creating a workplace where people feel safe, respected, supported and able to bring their whole selves to work. We know that the work we do can be challenging, so we place a strong emphasis on wellbeing, reflection, learning and supporting one another.
Our values guide our decisions, our relationships and the way we deliver services:
Courageous – We challenge inequality, speak up when things aren't right and take action to create positive change.
Affirming – We support, encourage and believe in people, recognising strengths and creating opportunities for everyone to succeed.
Generous – We share our knowledge, time and expertise, working collaboratively and with kindness to achieve the greatest impact.
Rooted – We stay connected to our communities, our purpose and our history, learning from the past while helping to create a better future.
We are based at the Pankhurst Centre, the birthplace of the suffragette movement, and are proud to continue a legacy of activism, empowerment and social change. Every role within our organisation contributes to helping women, children and communities live lives free from abuse and to creating a fairer society for future generations.
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
We are committed to building a diverse, inclusive and equitable workplace where everyone feels respected, valued and able to thrive. We actively encourage applications from women from a wide range of backgrounds, communities and lived experiences.
We recognise that people may not meet every requirement listed in the person specification and encourage you to apply if you feel you could bring valuable skills, experience and potential to the role.
As a trauma-informed organisation, we are committed to creating an accessible and supportive recruitment process. If you require any adjustments at any stage of the application or interview process, please let us know and we will work with you to provide appropriate support.
We are an accredited Living Wage Employer. This means we are committed to paying a wage that reflects the real cost of living, ensuring our staff can meet their everyday needs.
We are also a proud member of the Greater Manchester Good Employment Charter. Through this, we are committed to creating a fair, supportive and high-quality workplace, with a focus on secure and flexible work, excellent people management, meaningful employee voice, fair recruitment and progression, and a healthy, productive working environment.
As part of our commitment to fairness and transparency in recruitment, we have also taken the Show the Salary pledge. This means we always include salary information in our job adverts, helping to reduce pay inequality and ensure that candidates are evaluated on their skills and experience and not their ability to negotiate.
We are part of the Disability Confident scheme as a Committed organisation, and we are actively working towards becoming a Disability Confident Leader, ensuring our workplace is inclusive and accessible for disabled people and those with long-term health conditions.
As a provider of high-quality domestic abuse services, we are proud to hold Leading Lights accreditation from SafeLives and to meet the Women’s Aid National Quality Standards. These accreditations reflect the strength of our practice, the quality of support we provide, and our commitment to continually improving how we support both service users and our staff.
