Salary: £43,000 per annum

Main purpose of role: To manage the day-to-day running of our grant programmes to organisations and support the practical implementation of any new grant programmes from application process through to due diligence and record maintenance.
Main duties and responsibilities:
Grant management
- Act as the first point of contact for grants to organisations.
- Manage a portfolio of organisational grants that deliver our theory of change outcomes.
- Provide full grant management of our organisational grants, including: preparing grant deeds, keeping track of payments and reporting requirements, distilling learning, to grant renewal considerations.
- Organise and conduct regular meetings with funded organisations to learn alongside organisations and see the work in action.
- Implement grant making processes that reflect best practice and encourage learning through our grant making.
- Keep up-to-date with changes and developments in the external environment and work with colleagues to reflect this in strategy and practice.
Grant programme development
- Undertaking scoping and research for new grant programmes, and developing practical knowledge about new programme areas as required.
- Providing project management support for new grant programmes alongside the Senior Grants Manager.
- Taking a lead on the negotiation of new grant agreements.
- Managing the day-to-day processes required by any new grant programme from concept through to advertising the fund, assessing grant applications, due diligence, writing recommendation papers to trustees, to awarding funding and gathering and sharing learning.
Other activities
- Working with the Impact team to develop our monitoring and evaluation capabilities with funded organisations.
- Working with the Partnerships and Participation Manager and Policy and Best Practice Manager to ensure that our grant making processes are informed by the key stakeholders.
- Working with our fundraising and communication team to ensure we are communicating effectively with supporters about our work.

As Senior Grants Manager you will be an ambassador for the Foundation and will lead implementation of the grant making strategy to provide opportunities for children and young people (0-25 years old). The successful candidate will have strong Grant Management experience (minimum of 5 years) ideally with a large funder and a passion for working to improve life chances of vulnerable children and young people. You will be collaborative and collegiate with a willingness to contribute to and strengthen a strong team culture to empower team members to lead and develop, and be an articulate and confident presenter, able to bring stakeholders together at the highest levels to unlock problems with strong skills of persuasion. Strong experience of improving processes and procedures in grant management is key and experience of capital projects/spend out of a fund would be helpful but not essential

We are seeking to appoint someone on a 12-month fixed term contract as maternity cover, to join our Grants Team in delivering The Ideas Fund, an exciting programme which looks to connect communities with researchers in order to develop and try out ideas related to mental wellbeing. Key responsibilities
The main responsibilities of this role are to:
- Work with the Head of Grants to deliver an innovative programme that constantly evolves based on what we learn.
- Deliver excellent grant-making using relational, flexible and participatory approaches.
- Design and implement high-quality assessment, due diligence and grant management processes, continually reviewing and refining the approach.
- Support the assessment and delivery of a portfolio of ‘evidence building’ grants, with projects due to begin in January 2025.
- Design and implement learning and evaluation strategies and processes, reviewing and refining as needed. Manage relationships and/or contracts with learning partners where appropriate.
- Support local Development Coordinators to:
- Ensure the programme’s aim of supporting underserved communities is fulfilled and the grants budget is committed.
- Work with applicants and collaborators to develop high quality innovative proposals.
- Work with grant holders, collaborating researchers and project partners to overcome challenges they might face in delivering their projects.
- Collate and share local learning as part of an evidence building and practice sharing strategy, which is currently in development.
- Develop and manage a small pipeline of discretionary ‘infrastructure’ grants to add value to the portfolio and/or make systemic impact at local or national level, if necessary.
- Develop bespoke application and grant management and learning processes as appropriate.
- Work with the Head of Grants to devise a learning and development plan for the Grants Team.
- Build and engage a network of key stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of the programme.
- Champion innovation in supporting community/researcher collaboration, community-led research, systems change and grant-making across relevant sectors including:
- Sharing learning, practice and ideas with a broad range of stakeholders through a range of approaches.
- Representing the British Science Association at external events to share innovation and learning.
- Develop and deliver events and/or content to showcase practice.
- Support the Head of Grants with developing the BSA’s strategy around future grants programmes.
In addition, the post-holder will be expected to:
- Support colleagues across the organisation, especially at busy times or on specific areas of expertise.
- Undertake assessment or grant management work on other programmes as required.
- Other duties as reasonably required by the line manager.

We are excited to announce that we are seeking to recruit a new Grants Officer.
Our Grants Officers hold responsibility for operational and administrative support to the fund management of a portfolio of grants on UK Aid Match. The role supports operational management of the fund with the development and maintenance of efficient operating and reporting procedures, as well as contract administration, budget support and logistics, and ensuring grants move efficiently and timely through the grant management cycle. Role holders also support the teams on aspects of managing project documentation and duty of care.
Our Grants Officers develop insights into the wide range of organisations, sectors, approaches, and countries that FCDO are working in, gain understanding of how large donor funding mechanisms operate, and learn a range of relevant skills for working in the development sector. We’re seeking a dedicated and proactive Grants Officer to join our team to help grow our support for some of the world’s most marginalised children.
About the role
This is a new role in the Children on the Edge team, working with the Grants Manager to maximise funding from foundations and grant makers, and helping to grow our grants income (currently around £1.2m). You will be managing and growing a portfolio of funders, and identifying and nurturing new relationships with potential funders.
You will deliver effective prospecting, write compelling applications and create impactful reporting to new and current funders; helping to achieve the wider fundraising strategy of building and sustaining a broad base of restricted and unrestricted funding.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated fundraiser to join a small and dynamic organisation. You will be championing and fundraising for community led programmes that create protective environments full of hope, life, colour and fun. .
About you
To be successful in this role you will have an interest and understanding of community led international development and a passion for Children on the Edge’s distinctive approach and work.
You will have excellent communication skills, and a naturally pro-active and collaborative approach. You will enjoy creating compelling applications, narrative and financial reports for funders, be results-driven and have the self motivation and drive to deliver against deadlines.

- Experience of developing applications to major funders such as National Lottery, Sport England, central government and local authorities as well as smaller grants and trusts.
- Knowledge of various funders and ability to analyse and assess which opportunities are appropriate to consider.
- Skilled at presenting complex project information in a clear and engaging way.
- Exceptional communications skills, both written and verbal with the ability to produce concise, persuasive and engaging narrative.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team and encouraging this in others.
- Confidence to represent the organisation with partner agencies, funders and colleagues.

We are delighted to be partnering with The Leche Trust in the search for an experienced, highly organised Grants Director.
Established in 1950 through the endowment of its founder, Angus Acworth, The Leche Trust is an independent funder dedicated to supporting charities in the performing arts and heritage conservation sectors across the UK. With an annual distribution of approx. £240,000 in small grants, the Trust plays a vital role in nurturing cultural heritage and artistic endeavours. As part of its ongoing commitment to excellence, the Trust is transitioning to become a Charitable Incorporated Organisation in 2024.
As the sole employee of The Leche Trust, the Grants Director will spearhead the Trust's operations and day to day management, providing invaluable support to the Trustees while managing relationships with external stakeholders and funding networks. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in administering grants, overseeing governance and secretarial duties, managing financial administration, and facilitating effective communication both internally and externally.
Example of responsibilities:
- Manage the grant programme and smaller funds for conservation bursaries and research projects.
- Review and process grant applications, compile final grant recommendations for board review and notify applicants of decisions.
- Oversee grant contracts, payments and ongoing communications with grantees.
- Conduct light touch monitoring of funded projects and share insights with trustees to inform future strategy.
- Prepare meeting agenda and papers in consultation with the Chair of Trustees.
- Record accurate minutes of meetings and manage administrative tasks related to governance.
- Develop annual budgets, monitor expenditure, liase with auditors and investment managers to facilitate financial reporting and management.
- Respond to all enquires as required.
- Maintain the Trusts' online presence, ensuring website is kept up to date.
- Collaborate with other grant-making charities on ad hoc projects.
The Grants Director requires an ability to work independently, self-direct and prioritise.
We're looking for someone who's experienced in grant making process and systems, who also has knowledge of good practice in charity administration and governance. They will require excellent communication skills and have some experience working directly with a board of trustees. We're also looking for someone who has a good understanding of either the UK performing arts sector or the UK heritage conservation sector.
