A leading UK-based higher education partnership is seeking an exceptional Programme Manager - Strategic Projects to lead a major institutional transformation programme.

This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for shaping and delivering a large-scale integration across two complementary organisations. The programme will bring together diverse academic, research and operational strengths to establish a future-facing institution with a strong focus on innovation, sustainability and real-world impact.

You will be accountable for designing and leading a complex, multi-year programme, ensuring effective governance, structured delivery, and realisation of long-term benefits. Working closely with senior stakeholders, you will drive alignment across academic and professional services functions, manage interdependencies, and navigate a highly nuanced stakeholder landscape.

Key responsibilities include:

• Establishing programme structure, governance, and delivery frameworks

Interim Digital Project Manager
Contract: Full time, 18-month fixed term contract
Salary: £45,077 per annum
Location: Hybrid role between home and London office, with ideally two days per week in the London office

The interim Digital Project Manager will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering a portfolio of digital and systems projects across the Association. This role encompasses hands-on management of multiple projects ensuring that key systems such as website, HR, finance, customer relationship management (CRM) and learning platforms are effectively implemented, integrated and optimised to support the Association's strategic objectives.

The post holder will work across internal teams and with external suppliers to ensure that projects are planned, coordinated, delivered on schedule and within budget. This is a wonderful opportunity to play a key role within an organisation that delivers vital service to anaesthetists worldwide.
 

Core responsibilities within your role will be:

• Manage the end-to-end delivery of the website redesign project, including planning, governance, supplier management, and delivery against timelines and budget
• Develop test scripts and manage the end-to-end user acceptance testing cycles
• Communicate with all stakeholders in a timely and clear manner and provide status reports and updates as required

• Work with the educational events team to deliver a tender process for a new learning management system (LMS), including requirements gathering, supplier evaluation and selection
• Plan and coordinate the implementation of the selected LMS, liaising with other teams to ensure seamless integration to the CRM and website
• Manage any data migration to the new system

• Work with the Finance team to review and identify areas for improvement on the effectiveness of current core finance system
• Identify opportunities for automation and process efficiency and integration between systems to reduce duplication and manual processes
• Support the selection and implementation of any solutions identified
• Provide project management support to other teams as needed for other IT projects
• Identify opportunities to streamline current workflows and improve user experience across systems
• Manage relationships with external suppliers and implementation partners, ensuring quality delivery and value for money
• Oversee ongoing external supplier engagement and performance

We'd love to hear from individuals with the following core skills and experience:

• Proven experience delivering complex digital or systems transformation projects on time and on budget
• Strong project management experience, including managing multiple workstreams simultaneously
• Experience of project reporting, risk and budget management
• Experience of delivering website redesign and content management system projects
• Experience managing third-party suppliers and procurement processes, including tenders
• Demonstrable experience of developing user testing scripts and managing cycles of user acceptance training
• Strong understanding of digital systems, integrations, and business process improvement
• Demonstrable ability to work across business functions, with excellent stakeholder management, negotiation and communication skills
• Ability to translate business requirements into clear specifications and practical, deliverable solutions
• Analytical mindset with the ability to use data to inform decisions and measure impact
• Knowledge of finance systems and automation tools or HR systems
• Experience working with customer relationship management systems (ideally Microsoft Dynamics)
• Experience improving data quality, reporting, and data governance

We are seeking a Roaming International Finance Manager to provide short- to medium-term finance cover and additional capacity across a global programme portfolio. This is a hands-on international finance role, supporting Programme Managers and country teams to manage financial risk, strengthen financial controls, and ensure effective delivery of standard financial operating procedures.

The role may also include the induction, training and capacity-building of new International Finance Managers and local finance teams.

The successful candidate will work across a range of country programmes, often in challenging or developing-country contexts, providing support on budgeting, donor reporting, financial planning, monthly close processes, cash management, statutory compliance, audit preparation and partner contract oversight. They will play a key role in ensuring financial systems, reporting and controls are robust, compliant and aligned with operational needs.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Supporting country financial planning, forecasting and grant/contract budgeting.
• Monitoring grant and contract spend, including cost-to-completion and spend-out plans.
• Identifying and managing programme financial risks.
• Ensuring financial policies and standard operating procedures are implemented across programme locations.
• Overseeing monthly financial close and ledger accuracy.
• Preparing donor, client and country financial statements.
• Managing cash flow, banking arrangements and exchange-rate exposure.
• Supporting statutory, donor and external audits.
• Building the capacity of national finance teams and supporting staff development.

About you

You will be a qualified accountant, or able to demonstrate equivalent experience, with at least five years’ financial management experience, including two years overseas. You will bring strong financial planning, reporting, donor compliance and risk-management skills, together with the flexibility and resilience required to work in varied international contexts. Experience managing and developing small teams is essential.

This role would suit a practical, adaptable and culturally sensitive finance professional who is comfortable working both strategically and operationally, including in environments where living and working conditions may be basic.
