About us
Who we are
Every day, volunteers give their time, energy and skills to make a difference. They support charities, strengthen communities, help people through difficult times and contribute to causes they care about. But behind every volunteering role is a person. And sometimes, the people who spend their time helping others need support too. That simple belief is at the heart of Volunteer Kind.
Our purpose is simple: To help make volunteering positive, accessible and sustainable for the people who give their time.
We aim to develop projects, resources, partnerships and initiatives that support volunteers and strengthen their volunteering experience.
Our culture and values
Our core values are kindness, inclusion, respect, fairness and community. We want to remove barriers to volunteering, recognise the contribution volunteers make and create opportunities for people from different backgrounds, experiences and circumstances to get involved.
We also believe good ideas can come from anywhere. As a developing organisation, we encourage people to contribute their experience, challenge ideas constructively and help shape what Volunteer Kind CIC becomes. We value collaboration over hierarchy and want volunteers and team members to feel that their voices genuinely matter.
Our working practices reflect these values. We aim to be:
- Flexible – recognising that people have work, family, health and other commitments alongside volunteering.
- Supportive – creating an environment where people feel comfortable asking questions, requesting help and learning as they go.
- Inclusive and accessible – looking for ways to reduce unnecessary barriers to participation.
- Collaborative – sharing ideas and involving people in developing our projects and services.
- Open and honest – communicating clearly about what we can do, what we are still developing and where we need help.
- Appreciative – recognising people's time, skills and contributions rather than taking volunteering for granted.
- Practical – focusing on initiatives that can make a meaningful difference to volunteers and the wider voluntary and community sector.
As a new and growing CIC, we are still developing many of our programmes and ways of working. That means joining Volunteer Kind CIC can offer something a little different: the opportunity not simply to fill an existing role, but to help shape an organisation from an early stage.
Above all, we want Volunteer Kind CIC to be an organisation that practises the same kindness towards its own volunteers that we want to see across the wider voluntary sector.
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
We believe everyone should feel welcome, respected and able to participate. Volunteer Kind CIC is committed to promoting equality, celebrating diversity and creating an inclusive environment. We seek to prevent discrimination, remove barriers to participation and ensure that volunteers, staff and the people we support are treated fairly and with respect.
