Job description

Passionate about women's rights? Looking for a role in Policy and Advocacy? We're hiring a Policy and Advocacy Officer to join our growing team!

Orchid Project has a vision of a world free from female genital cutting (FGC) – something we believe is entirely possible. Orchid Project is a team of 11 full time staff. Last year our income was just over £1M, largely from major donors and trusts/foundations. In addition to our London-based staff, Orchid Project has an active supporter association in Denmark, and we partner with a number of grassroots organisations in Africa and Asia to accelerate an end to FGC.

The Policy and Advocacy Officer will play a vital role in supporting all of Orchid Project’s policy and advocacy objectives, reporting to the Head of Policy and Advocacy, and working closely with the entire Orchid team to implement the policy and advocacy strategy.

You will have an understanding of diverse forms of policy and advocacy and how organisations can effectively influence global and national actors and frameworks. You will be working closely with our grassroots partners and civil society organisations globally to support them in developing their advocacy, movement–building, and policy influencing skills.

You will support the Communications Manager to develop and evolve a communications activity plan that supports the advocacy strategy. You will share information and write briefings for the Policy and Advocacy team’s contribution to communications outputs.
