Job description

Volunteer Opportunity: Cadet Unit Management Team – London

Location: London

Time Commitment: Weekly Parade Nights (7:00pm – 9:00pm) plus a monthly team planning meeting.

Build a Legacy in Your Local Community

Are you looking for a rewarding way to give back to your local London community? We are recruiting a dedicated Unit Management Team to lead, manage, and grow our Ranger Cadet units. Whether you are an experienced leader or looking to develop your leadership/managent skills, there is a place for you in our team.

We are seeking passionate individuals for the following uniformed roles:

1. Officer in Charge (OiC)

As the lead for the unit, you will be responsible for the overall management, safety, and success of the parade nights. You will provide the vision and direction, ensuring the unit follows the cadet syllabus and maintains high standards of discipline and fun.

2. Second in Charge (2iC)

The "right hand" to the OiC. You will focus on the operational day-to-day running of the unit, supporting the volunteer team, and stepping in to lead whenever necessary. You’ll be vital in ensuring that training is organised and engaging.

3. The Support Team

Not every hero is at the front of the parade! We need a reliable Support Team to handle:

  • Unit Administration: Managing attendance, badges, and records.

  • Logistics & Stores: Ensuring uniforms and equipment are ready for our cadets.

  • Safety & Welfare: Helping to maintain a secure and inclusive environment for all.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Running Weekly Parade Nights: Delivering a structured, interactive programme that helps cadets earn their uniforms and badges.

  • Empowering Young Londoners: Supporting cadets to boost their confidence and learn vital "skills for life."

  • Team Collaboration: Working together to ensure the smooth running of the unit from 7:00pm to 9:00pm every week.

What We’re Looking For

  • Local Impact: People who care about providing positive opportunities for young people in London.

  • Commitment: Reliability to attend the same evening each week.

  • Professionalism: A desire to wear the uniform with pride and act as a role model.

  • Team Spirit: The ability to work within a structured management team.

Why Join the Management Team?

  • Professional Development: Gain accredited leadership and management experience.

  • Community Connection: Meet like-minded volunteers and make a tangible difference in your borough.

  • Prepared for Life: Use your skills to help the next generation on their journey to adulthood.

How to Apply:

Ready to lead the way in London? We are looking for individuals and groups of friends/colleagues to form these new teams.
