Job description

Cadet Group Lead work directly with young people in St John Ambulance Badger Setts and Cadet Units. By organising a mixed weekly programme, this role will support the learning and development of young people into the next generation of health citizens. Cadet Group Lead also help young people develop their confidence, teamwork skills, self-discipline, and generally encourage them to strive to be the best they can be, as well as supervise and support other adult volunteers in their team.

The Volunteer Cadet Group Lead is responsible for leading and coordinating the delivery of weekly Cadet sessions at Brierley Hill, ensuring a safe, supportive, and engaging environment for young people. The role involves both operational leadership during sessions and the completion of essential administrative tasks to support the effective running of the Cadet programme. Key responsibilities include planning, organising, and leading weekly Cadet sessions, supported by assistant leaders and volunteers.

The role holder oversees attendance, maintains accurate records, and completes all required Cadet administration, including registers, consent documentation, and any necessary reporting. Sessions should promote skills development, confidence, teamwork, and progression in line with the Cadet framework. The Cadet Group Lead acts as a key point of contact for parents and carers, models positive behaviours, and ensures safeguarding, health and safety, and organisational policies are adhered to at all times.
