The Role
As a Staff Sergeant (Cadet Unit Leader), you will:

Cadet Group Leaders work directly with young people in St John Ambulance Badger Setts and Cadet Units. By organising a mixed weekly programme, this role will support the learning and development of young people into the next generation of healthy citizens. Youth Leaders also help young people develop their confidence, teamwork skills, and self-discipline, and generally encourage them to strive to be the best they can be, as well as supervise and support other adult volunteers in their team.
You’ll get a huge sense of satisfaction and pride delivering an essential service. It’s great for you, great for your community and great for our nation, and it requires only a small commitment of your time.
Our Cadet Group meets between 18:00 - 20:00 on a Monday evening every week, term-time only. Please outline your availability in your application form. The vacancy is for Ringmer Cadet Group. No one should die because they needed first aid and didn’t get it. St John Ambulance teaches people first aid so they can be the difference between life and death, and you can help us do this.
As Unit Manager you will be responsible for the overall management of your St John Ambulance Youth unit. You will do this by leading weekly meetings, organising other youth development activities and actively participating in the recruitment, training and retention of the young people and volunteers in your unit. You will ensure that they have a positive and rewarding experience in St John Ambulance, by equipping them with the necessary skills to fulfil our vision; ‘Everyone who needs it should receive first aid from those around them. No one should suffer for the lack of trained first aiders.’
This role is ideal for someone who has some management experience and wants to enhance their skills while doing invaluable work. This role is exempt from the provisions of the Rehabilitations Offenders Act.
Our Wymondham Cadet Unit will meet for 2 hrs on a weekday evening, every week during term times. Usually between the hours between 6-9pm, being a new unit, the team will be able to discuss day/time when in place. Please outline your availability in your application form

RANGER CADETS TRAINER / TRAINING DESIGNER - REMOTE VOLUNTEER ROLE
We are the Ranger Cadets a brand new independent start up non-profit uniformed youth work organisation that is being set up with an aim of getting young people engaged in their community in uniform, as well as equipping young people with the essential life skills, tools and opportunities that help them to unlock their full potential.
We are a non-political and non-religious inclusive uniformed youth organisation that is open and welcoming to everyone regardless of their social background.
We're on the look out for a dedicated, hard working, passionate and creative Trainer / Training Designer, who can design and create some fun, challenging and interactive training sessions that motivate young people and/or our volunteers, create team spirit and team bonding, boosts confidence and also gives a sense of achievement as well as a sense of belonging to the Ranger Cadets.
We are particularly interested in the following Training sessions to be designed and created, which will include;
- Recruit Training - (12 weeks of 1.5 hours per week) for young people who are just joining Ranger Cadets for the first time and will get to know the Ranger Cadets, their role, build team work skills and build a sense of belonging while having fun and enjoyment become part of the local community and allows them to earn their uniform and begin their journey with the Ranger Cadets.
- Cadet Syllabus - (8-10 hours minimum) that will be fun, interactive and challenging and help develop our young people, giving them the tools, techniques and skills needed in a particular topic or area relevant to the needs of young people such as in Communication Skills, Presentation Skills, Self Development, Community Work, Drill/Marching/Parading, First Aid, Mental Health Awareness, and other topics that will earn cadets badges for their uniform.
- Youth Leadership Course (NCO) - (2 day course = approx 10-12 hours) for young people beginning their leadership journey at Ranger Cadets, where they will understand the role of leadership, leading other young people, peer mentoring, coaching, train the trainer and team work, as well as how to plan and organise lessons and activities for other young people that will earn them a promotion in rank to Cadet Corporal and the rank insignia for their uniform.
- Officer Training (Adult Leadership) - (4 day course - approx 20-24 hours) for adult volunteers joining Ranger Cadets who will become an Officer In Charge of a Ranger Cadets, leading a Cadet Unit, taking on a leadership role, including running a cadet unit, safeguarding, working with young people, dealing with challenging behaviour, leading people and managing volunteers.
You MUST be able to help make Ranger Cadets a huge success by creating fun, engaging, interactive training for our people. We're only looking for a creative and driven fully motivated volunteer to join us and help us create something special.
This is a NON-UNIFORMED role at Ranger Cadets.

This is such an exciting time to join Sutton Network as a Youth Helper or Youth Leader. We’re hoping to open a new Cadet Group in our Sutton HQ, alongside a new Badger Sett, to teach even more young people vital first-aid skills and give them knowledge for life. Ideally this would be on a Monday or Thursday night, so please let us know your availability at interview.
We’d also like to open a new Group for the Cantonese speaking community in the future, so keep your eyes peeled for another vacancy for this Group!
