What will you be doing?
In addition to the responsibilities of all board members, the Treasurer will:
- Support the Board to review and monitor ECU’s financial performance and sustainability
- Ensure the Board receives timely, accessible and accurate financial information
- Support the team to develop and maintain robust and proportionate financial policies, processes and risk management systems

As Habitat GB is both a registered charity and a company, Trustees also serve as Company Directors, with names publicly listed at Companies House and the Charity Commission.
Time commitment: Up to 1 day per month.
Board meetings are held 4 times per year during the working day. They are held in person, last half a day and are normally at our ReStore site in Romford. Ad hoc meetings, online and in person, may also be scheduled.
Trustees may also be asked to join either the Finance, Audit & Risk subcommittee, or the Strategy & Development subcommittee, which also meet 4 times per year, normally online.

The Habitat GB Board of Trustees is a group of volunteers with a wide range of backgrounds
and experiences who come together to help guide Habitat GB to deliver its strategy and ensure we do our work to the highest possible standards.
The Board works as a team, challenging and supporting the National Director and Senior Leadership Team with strategic decisions, mobilising resources and opening up access to networks and expertise.

Who we are looking for:
We are looking to recruit up to 5 new Trustees. We are particularly looking for the following experience:
· Finance management (experience of audit, impact investment or charity finance would be helpful).
· Legal (experience of charity law would be helpful).
· People - HR, EDI, Culture, Safeguarding.
· Brand, marketing, PR and media.
· Any experience of our strategic areas: the wider housing sector; local or national political, policy or service delivery; charity retail.
· Fundraising and partnerships.

Key Responsibilities:
· Prepare for, attend in person and actively contribute to board meetings and share in decision making about all significant issues that impact Habitat GB.
· Chair or serve on at least one committee if invited, each meeting online four times a year. Either the Finance Audit & Risk Committee, or the Strategy & Development Committee.
· Set Habitat GB’s strategy and ensure its delivery.
· Scrutinise Habitat GB’s performance and hold leadership to account.
· Visit a Habitat GB programme, activity, Global Volunteering Build or shop at least once a year.
· Act as custodian of Habitat GB’s values and long-term future and ensure good governance.
· Represent Habitat GB externally, be prepared to open up your network and act as an ambassador.
· Ensure legal and regulatory duties as a Trustee and Company Director are fulfilled.
· Fulfil the expectations of the Charity Commission or any other relevant regulatory body.
· Engage in any induction, training or upskilling activities required.

The charity’s mission is to offer support, community and education to improve the lives of those with alopecia.
We are seeking talented trustees to strengthen our strategic leadership and support smooth succession as current trustees reach the end of their terms. This is an ongoing recruitment process, and we welcome applications at any time, particularly from those with expertise in the following areas:
- Charity fundraising: Leadership in a fundraising environment, ideally within the charity sector.
- Communications & Marketing: Senior communications or marketing role, with strong audience engagement insight.
- Legal: Experience providing legal advice at a senior level, preferably with charity or governance exposure.
- Dermatology in the NHS: Experience of treating patients with alopecia, with a deep knowledge of clinical pathways and related challenges in primary and secondary care.
About Alopecia UK
Founded in 2004, we work to help adults, young people and children affected by alopecia. This includes those with alopecia, as well as their loved ones. We are a small charity, with an annual income under £500,000, working nationally across the UK. Despite being small, we are the largest alopecia charity in the UK and have big ambitions to continue our growth and development, reaching more people than ever before. We agreed a new strategy in May 2025, and are committed to our key goal, which is to increase our reach, particularly in the communities that haven’t yet found us.
We have a fantastic and dedicated staff team (5.4 FTE) and board of Trustees. We also rely upon the generosity of volunteers, many of whom have personal experience of alopecia themselves. Alopecia UK receives no statutory funding from the government and is funded by community fundraising, donations, funding grants, and corporate partnerships.
Alopecia UK Trustee Board
The Alopecia UK Trustee Board are a group of dedicated volunteers who are committed to Alopecia’s aims.
The Trustee Board meets four times a year (two face-to-face meetings and two virtual meetings). Face-to-face meetings tend to be held on Saturdays from approximately 10am-4pm. Virtual meetings tend to be held midweek from approximately 6.30-8.30pm.
Trustees are encouraged to participate in charity campaigns and attend flagship events, e.g., our Big Weekend and Alton Towers trip. Trustees are not paid, but out-of-pocket expenses are reimbursed. Trustees serve at least three years

You will join a committed Board of Trustees who work closely with our small
operational team. Together, we ensure that Tackle remains financially resilient,

Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the Board’s strategic oversight, particularly around fundraising andl ong-term income development.
- Support the Executive Team to explore and strengthen diverse income streams, including grants, corporate partnerships, individual giving, and trading opportunities.
- Help shape our sustainability plan as we transition from growth to consolidation.

Both experienced and aspiring trustees have much to bring to our table: we are looking for fresh perspectives and seasoned knowledge alike.
Key responsibilities
Student Minds Trustees are expected to commit to the following:
-
Preparation and attendance at four board meetings a year. Board meetings are held online and take place on weekdays from 5 - 7.30 pm.

Preparation and attendance at two board away days each year, usually from 12.30 - 5 pm. Board away days are in person and usually take place in Leeds. Travel expenses can be claimed.

Ad-hoc meetings and conversations with the senior management team as required. This usually constitutes approximately a further five working days a year.
If appointed, you will receive the training and onboarding you need to be a confident, contributing member of the board. We are also able to provide you with a board buddy to support you in your first few months.
