Cystic Fibrosis Trust is the UK's leading charity dedicated to uniting for a life unlimited for everyone affected by cystic fibrosis (CF). CF is a life-limiting genetic condition affecting over 11,000 people across the UK. We fund vital research, campaign for access to life-changing treatments, and provide support to people living with CF and their families. 

About the Role

Every year, incredible supporters across the UK raise funds for people affected by cystic fibrosis. We're looking for friendly, enthusiastic volunteers to help us celebrate, support and encourage those fundraisers in their local communities, ensuring they feel valued and connected to Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

By volunteering with us, you'll help ensure fundraisers feel valued and supported, and we'll give you everything you need to feel confident in the role. Full training and support will be provided. 

• Community-based in your local area

As a Community Fundraising Volunteer, you'll play an important role in helping us build relationships with fundraisers and supporters in your local area. Whether you're attending events, thanking supporters, delivering fundraising resources or sharing local insight, you'll help ensure fundraisers feel appreciated and connected to the impact they're having.

• Flexible time commitment

This is a flexible, ongoing volunteer opportunity that can fit around your existing commitments. 

What You'll Be Doing

You could support us in a variety of ways, including:

• Attending fundraising events and representing Cystic Fibrosis Trust in your local area. 
• Thanking supporters and organisers, including giving a short speech if you're comfortable doing so. 
• Delivering and collecting fundraising materials and resources. 
• Collecting and returning collection tins and donation boxes securely.
• Sharing local knowledge and helping identify potential fundraising or partnership opportunities. 
• Providing occasional support to Community Fundraisers with local fundraising activities and events.

We recognise that every volunteer brings different strengths, experiences and interests, and aspects of the role can be tailored accordingly. 

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for people who:

• Are enthusiastic about supporting the work of Cystic Fibrosis Trust. 
• Enjoy meeting and communicating with a variety of people. 
• Have a friendly, positive and people-centred approach. 
• Feel comfortable working independently, while knowing support is available when needed. 
• Have basic IT skills and access to email and a phone. 
• Are willing and able to travel locally to support fundraising activities.

Experience in fundraising or volunteering is helpful but not essential. We particularly welcome applications from people with lived experience of cystic fibrosis, either directly or through a family member, although this is not a requirement.

We fundraise so we can run services and support for people with MS, and fund our groundbreaking research programme that aims to stop MS altogether. As a Fundraising Events Volunteer, you’ll help us deliver fun and exciting fundraising events. Your responsibilities can include helping with preparation and setting up, registration, meeting and greeting people, marshalling, and stewarding and supporting our fundraising events participants. In this role you’ll develop your communication, organisation and team working skills. 

What you’ll be doing:

• Participating in fundraising events throughout the year, with some involvement in preparations on the day
• Cheering on our team at one of our cheer points to give them a much needed boost
• Meeting and greeting, marshalling or stewarding
• Helping at registration desk for larger events
• Promoting activities on the day
• Cash handling

As a charity we can help thousands of cats each year thanks to the generous donations from our supporters. Raising funds is a key role in our charity, helping to raise the vital funds needed to help more cats and kittens in need.

As a fundraising volunteer, we will support you every step of the way to ensure your time at Cats Protection is a positive and rewarding one. Whatever time you can give really does make a big difference We have lots of exciting activities to choose from for example attending a fundraising event, fundraising online, promoting fundraising activities on social media, handling administrative tasks, or contributing to the development of new fundraising ideas. Whatever your skill set, this role could be perfect for you! 

What can I expect to be doing? 

As a flexible role, you have the choice to be involved in the following: 

• Face-to-face fundraising – organising or helping with our fundraising events, attending supermarket collections or local markets. 

• Distributing collection tins – popping collection tins into local shops and pubs and collecting them when they’re full. 

• Bringing new ideas! - We always love to come up with new ideas to raise funds for cats and we’d love to help bring yours to life. 

• Engaging with your local branches and Fundraising Hub and feeling like an integral part of the team!

How much time is expected of me? 

Our Fundraising Volunteer roles are very flexible, often certain times of the year are busier than others. You can choose your level of involvement to suit your schedule!

Fort Amherst Heritage Trust cares for Fort Amherst in Chatham, Kent, preserving an important historic site and making it available for the benefit, enjoyment and education of the wider community. The Trust relies heavily on volunteers to help maintain, restore, interpret and promote the site for present and future generations.

Role Purpose

Trustees are collectively responsible for the governance, strategic direction and long-term sustainability of Fort Amherst Heritage Trust. As a Trustee, you will help ensure that the charity fulfils its charitable purposes, complies with its legal duties and makes decisions in the best interests of the Trust and the communities it serves.

Key Responsibilities

· Work with fellow Trustees to set and review the Trust’s vision, strategy and priorities.

· Ensure the Trust carries out its charitable purposes for the public benefit.

· Oversee the responsible management of the Trust’s finances, assets, buildings, grounds and collections.

· Support good governance by complying with the Trust’s governing document, charity law and relevant regulations.

· Monitor risks, policies and procedures, including health and safety, safeguarding, finance, data protection and volunteer management.

· Contribute to discussions and decisions at Board meetings, reading papers in advance and offering constructive challenge and support.

· Act as an ambassador for Fort Amherst, promoting its heritage, community value and volunteer-led work.

· Support fundraising, partnership development and community engagement where appropriate.

· Declare and manage any conflicts of interest and maintain confidentiality where required.

Skills and Experience

We welcome applications from people with a commitment to heritage, community benefit and good governance. Previous trustee experience is helpful but not essential. The Trust is particularly interested in people who can bring one or more of the following areas of experience:

· Heritage, museums, archives, conservation or historic buildings.

· Finance, fundraising, grant applications or business planning.

· Education, learning, interpretation or visitor experience.

· Volunteer management, community engagement or inclusion.

· Marketing, communications, events or digital engagement.

· Legal, governance, risk management, health and safety or safeguarding.

· Property, estates, facilities management or environmental stewardship.

Personal Qualities

· A genuine interest in Fort Amherst, local heritage and public benefit.

· Sound judgement, integrity and a willingness to act collectively with other Trustees.

What we need from you

• help set up and/or man stalls at events
• help on collection days like supermarket collections events or street collections
• help at fundraising events such as quiz nights, cake sales and dances
• promoting a professional image of Cats Protection at events

Time expectation

This role is really flexible! You could choose to volunteer at one event for a couple of hours or attend multiple fundraising events.

We’ll keep you up to date with upcoming local events where volunteers are needed. You’ll then be able to choose which events you’d like to volunteer at and how many hours you’d like to give. However much time you can give, your contribution will help raise much needed funds to continue the work of Cats Protection.
