PACT (Parents and Children Together) has been building and strengthening families since 1911 through outstanding adoption services and specialist therapeutic and trauma informed support services across Reading, the Thames Valley, and southern England. As one of the UK’s leading voluntary adoption agencies, we place children with loving, permanent families (over 84 placements last year) and offer lifelong specialist support through services like our Strengthening Families Team, CATCH and Adopter Champions. Alongside adoption, we empower women facing multiple disadvantages at Alana House and help children and their non‑abusing parents recover from trauma via our Bounce Back 4 Kids programme.
Who we are looking for
For this Safeguarding Lead Trustee role, we would welcome applications from interested individuals who have current strong understanding and experience of safeguarding legislation from within a children’s social care setting. The time commitment is around one day per month, including quarterly Board meetings and input into wider charity matters. Our emotional support volunteers offer vital emotional support to woman, girl and AFAB non-binary survivors of sexual violence and abuse by providing our helpline, email support and live chat services.
We are the only specialist service in Cambridgeshire providing dedicated support to woman survivors of rape and sexual violence.
These confidential and anonymous services would not exist without our amazing volunteers, who provide life-changing support to survivors in their local community.
Who are we looking for?
Women of all ages (18 years +) and backgrounds who are:
- Empathetic, non-judgemental and good listeners.
- Self-aware and emotionally resilient.
- Interested in discussing and learning about sexual violence and its impacts on women and girls.
- Able to maintain confidentiality and anonymity.
- Able to work independently using initiative and also be part of a team.
- Share CRCC’s survivor-focused ethos.
- Ideally able to commit to three shifts a month (shifts are Wednesday and Thursday evenings and Sunday mornings).

We are currently seeking qualified, women solicitor, barrister and qualified legal executive volunteers to provide legal advice on our Family Law advice line. All volunteering is done remotely and you must be qualified to practice in England and Wales.
What will you be doing?
We offer a safe space for women to talk about their situation and receive expert legal advice to enable them to make important decisions about their future.
For 50 years our free telephone advice lines have provided vital legal advice for women experiencing domestic abuse on issues such as protective orders, child arrangements, finances and divorce or separation.
We ask all our volunteers to:
- Provide advice on our advice lines for one 2-hour session a month (minimum);
- Attend the induction training session provided by Rights of Women;
- Give clear and accurate legal advice to callers;
- Be non-judgemental and non-discriminatory in their approach;
- Follow our procedures for making records of calls and obtaining monitoring information;
- Keep up to date with the law for the relevant advice lines;
- Attend all agreed advice line sessions (remotely);
- Inform us as soon as possible if they are unable to attend an agreed session;
- Abide by Rights of Women’s procedures, standards and policies, including equal opportunities and confidentiality in relation to staff, volunteers and users.

Experience Qualification and Requirements
Essential experience

- Background in social care, youth work, education, community services, mental health, or survivor-support environments with sensitive disclosures.
- Experience moderating online communities or managing safety in digital spaces, particularly those involving vulnerable or at-risk groups.
- Proven ability to identify risk, assess severity, and respond appropriately, including recognising when immediate escalation is required.
- Experience handling incidents and maintaining clear, factual documentation and records in line with safeguarding expectations.
- Experience contributing to or applying safeguarding policies, protocols, or guidance in real-world settings.

Main Responsibilities/ Key Duties
- Develop, implement, and maintain clear moderation and safeguarding frameworks that are trauma-informed, practical, and consistently applied across all CIC platforms.
- Monitor all community spaces to identify harmful or abusive behaviour, boundary violations, and high-risk disclosures involving children, survivors, or vulnerable adults.
- Take timely moderation action in line with protocols, including content removal, access restrictions, warnings, or escalation to safeguarding leads.
- Escalate safeguarding incidents promptly and accurately in accordance with CIC procedures, prioritising cases involving immediate or serious risk.
- Maintain accurate, confidential records of incidents, actions taken, outcomes, and follow-ups to ensure accountability and audit readiness.
- Support a safe and respectful community culture by reinforcing behaviour standards, tone-of-voice guidance, and survivor-centred practices.
- Train and support volunteers in trauma-informed moderation, safeguarding awareness, confidentiality, and correct escalation pathways.
- Review incident trends and recurring risks, recommending improvements to moderation systems, guidance, and preventative controls.
- Liaise closely with Social Media Engagement Officers, Campaign Managers, and Membership & Community Directors to ensure joined-up safeguarding practice.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by supporting updates to policies, protocols, response scripts, and internal safeguarding documentation.
