Event first aider volunteer roles

At St John Ambulance, we are looking to develop our volunteering offer and become an even more integral part of our communities through delivering community first aid and education.

As a Community First Aider, you’ll deliver first aid to those in need through local events, as well as provide education to the public so that the ripple effect of First Aid grows.

Do you live in Sefton? Do you want to be the difference between a life saved and a life lost? We're now recruiting for Community First Aiders across Sefton (including Southport, Formby, Waterloo, Crosby and Maghull).

The volunteers would be expected to attend their network meeting on a regular (at least monthly basis) and partake in a range of operational events.

Interviews would take place in early to mid October 2025. This event will include an informal chat with some of our current volunteers, a quick introduction to St John Ambulance (and an opportunity to learn some lifesaving skills!) as well as screening checks.

If you are successful you will need to undertake induction & training for role at these dates:
Welcome Event (Induction) - will take place on the 1st November
Training for role - will take place on 22nd and 23rd November

We are looking to run a volunteering selection session date to be confirmed, Interviews will be conducted at our North Walsham site unless under certain circumstances an alternative venue is needed.

We're now recruiting for Community First Aiders across The Wirral (including Birkenhead, Wallasey, Heswall, West Kirby and Bromborough). We welcome anyone but especially interested in applicants that are available during the week.

Welcome Event (Induction) - November
Training for role - Training for Role will take place in January/February 2026.

We want to increase the number of volunteers in Cranleigh and Woking areas as well as Guildford, Successful candidates would be expected to attend at least one training night per month at Guildford from 20:00 for 2 hours.

Interviews will be conducted at Guildford. Please bring documents for an ID Check.

Online learning will be required before a 2 day course will be taking place at the weekend in January

This recruitment opportunity seeks volunteers from across the Counties of Hereford & Worcester. Local Networks see volunteers coordinated at either Kidderminster, Bromsgrove, Worcester City, Pershore or Hereford City. The ability to travel is essential and will require candidates to travel reasonable distances within the two counties to perform their duties including, First Aid, Community Engagement and Fundraising.

A selection event will take place at our County Headquarters - 148. Wylds Lane, Worcester, WR5 1DN, within two weeks of the closing date (TBC). Successful candidates will be enrolled onto the next available Community First Aid course, which will be run at the Worcester site (Dates TBC).

Want to learn first aid? Enjoy going to local events? Want to meet people and make new friends? This is the role for you. St John provide first aid treatment and care for members of the public at a variety of events. We support our local communities in all sorts of ways including first aid cover, CPR training, community response, and providing first aid training to schools and community groups. This is a fantastic role offering all sorts of opportunities within Cumbria and beyond. 

]We are currently recruiting for Community First Aiders in both Carlisle and Silloth and would love for you to join us! 

Full training and support will be provided including: Welcome programme introducing you to the project & wider charity Training in appropriate SJA policies St John Safeguarding training relevant to your role A two day Community First Aider training course The opportunity to be part of a local unit, where you will have ongoing support from peers and further learning & development opportunities Expected Time Commitment ideally two events per month (average event shift 1-8 hours) but this varies. 

For our Community First Aiders, we ask for a commitment of 80 hours a year. This can include time on events, delivering engagement in the community and attending training on Monday evenings. All volunteers will initially be trained as Community First Aiders. This role is focused on community engagement, with some practical skills in delivery of first aid. Once inducted and comfortable in this role, there will be further opportunities to develop in role and increase medical skillsets should volunteers wish to pursue this and are able to take on additional commitments.

We are looking for new members to join our clinical team in Derbyshire South to support at local community events.

Volunteers will be required to undertake 2 days of face-to-face training for their role in addition to online learning modules. Meetings with the Network team take place on Monday and Thursday evenings, some available online.

We are looking to run a volunteering selection session on: Sunday 9th or Sunday 23rd November, Inductions will take place after the interviews. 

Face-to-face training for role will take place in Derby on 17th & 18th January 2026. You must be able to attend both days. Online learning can be done in your own time prior to the course.

You will be required to attend regular training nights at the University of Bristol Student's Union

Students will be welcomed into the society at the regular unit meeting nights and any new volunteers will be mentored by the committee and fellow society members. Inductions will take place at the same time and support will be provided by the local network leadership team alongside the committee.

There are multiple CFA courses running in the county that are accessible to the students. Additional courses may be run if we recruit enough members. We have trainers and the capacity to run the course, as well as transport available if required to a St John building.

Interview and Enrolment Day will be held in person at the Richmond Building 23/10/2025 timings TBC

Volunteers would be expected to attend regular network training evenings, on line training and specific face to face training for the role. Once trained for the role would be expected to assist at First Aid, PR and fundraising events.

Welcome Event (Induction) - Saturday 11th October to attend a selection event in Aylesbury.
Training for role - Following the selection event, successful candidates will need to attend a Welcome event on Saturday 1st November in Aylesbury. and On line training plus two day face to face classroom training over a weekend.
